Rear light overlays - hatch
Afternoon all,
I have seen these overlays before on hatches and would like to know the best place to find them, http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3...erlayclose.jpg Is this something that I could do myself with tinting film or leave to the professionals? I can only find one place that sells them and that is in USA, can't say I am up for the pain of buying abroad and waiting for delivery.. Thoughts please! |
I got mine from IAG performance in the USA. You're looking around £60 including postage.
To have a clear bit in the middle both sides you'll need a clear hatch rear right for the boot hatch. There is a youtube vid by a big tuner that demos how to place the overlays - they require persistance rather than skill but there is a potential to cock up. I'll be putting some pics up on my own car's thread this weekend when I have finished hopefully. |
Could try www.litchfieldimports.co.uk, I know all the hatch's they sell have the red overlay on, put on by themselves. Let me know as I want to do this too when I eventually get my hatch!

Double post due to criminally slow GPRS signal on Dartmoor

Bluebat in the US do them too, he ships to the UK, about $50 all in. I had some, went to a vehicle wrapping company to have them fitted and they managed to f*ck it up..I haven't got round to getting anymore yet. I'm still waiting for a call back from Litchfields (3 months later) about how much they cost and whether they could do some other work on my car.

It's obvious that if it isn't a GTR then they aren't interested in your custom anymore. |
Blue bat overlays are what I used on my hatch.
https://scontent-a-ams.xx.fbcdn.net/...47071084_n.jpg I've been known to fit a few sets quite easilly, but does require patience |

Apologies for the delay on this thread I have been preoccupied.
Thank you for the information guys I will be getting on this soon. For the clear rear light, is there somewhere you can buy them one their own? Or do I need a new cluster. I think the look great :) |
You need the rear hatch unit, you can order from Revolution or give Rob84 on here a shout.
|
Excellent! Thank you for the info, all in all I think £100 very well spent!
|
No worries. As much as the Americans love to fook their cars up they do have a lotcof good things you can do to them!
Yeah it's what it's cost me in total too, though it's taking me a lot of time to get these rear lights actually sorted? |
I can imagine it is a tricky job, however I know a very good vinyl man so I think he will be getting a knock on the door! I'll keep you posted when I finally get round to it :thumb:

Hi Rob as promised I've got my pics up, a bit later than I intended.

You think you were late!! I have just seen this, the lights look awesome bravo! I have a wrapper near by that has some red film he recons he can do it. Just looks a pain getting over the contours of the lights, fun times for the new year!
Loving the motor by the way thenewgalaxy :) |
Just bought my hatch today and it has the clear rear lights . 2 plus years on from the last post is there any new ways of doing this? Don't fancy doing the film myself. Who now sells the fog light bit I will need?

Old thread I know but I've just bought overlays from salsaking. Did you guys buy a 7443 red t20 bulb on the red overlays with clear cut outs ?. There's 2 variants I've found but wasn't sure on which one too buy.
