My Widebody Type R (22b) Fat tyre content!
10 Attachment(s)
Kept meaning to make a project thread but haven’t found the time, I have a little free time now the car is getting there so here we go… Sold my forged Hawkeye STI with every intention of doing a cheap project and putting some money in the bank, well that went out the window! Anyway here's what I bought,
Attachment 58192 Attachment 58193 A version 4 type R in white neigh on standard (V6 wing and a different backbox) with prodrive front seats I haven't seen in anything else? and a BIG folder full of receipts and history for a bargain price. I decided I had to do the 22b widebody kit but didn't want a 22b rep so decided on staying with the original 230 white and front and rear bumpers but with a bit of a difference, rear bumper I just had the spats smoothed in so it looks all one piece and the front bumper I cut all the hideous lats out and smoothed, put a P1 style front splitter on and the smooth fog light covers I knew I wanted that took me ages to find! With a V6 grill to finish. First mock up of the front end, going to my mates for rear arches cutting out. Notice the upside down Subaru badge from the previous owner! Yes I was driving a Ur a bus. Attachment 58194 Was pleased with the look, thought it looked mean but still OEM Came back from my mates looking worse for ware... Attachment 58195 It was at this point I started to realize how much work I had bitten off so decided to let the body shop fit the rear quaters and side skirts. So it was the taken over To Darren Earley paint and panel at Castleford (highly recommended) While I was waiting for the car back I got a tad bored and made this on forza 4 for inspiration :) Attachment 58196 Anyway I picked the car up and couldn't believe how good a job he had made of the paint and fitting all the kit de-locking the boot etc. it looks almost factory fresh! Attachment 58197 Looked very daft with the original wheels but so pleased with how it came out and think I made the right choice with all the black lights! Anyway the next weekend came and I got my BC RM coilovers fitted and my XXR 527 17x9.75 et20 flat silver wheels with custom Subaru centres as I hated the originals, with Maxxis Victra 255/40/17 tyres which measure at a huge 270mm they look obscene :D also motorbike stubby valves and R40 gunmetal wheel nuts, some work in fitting these buggers, camber and fiberglass triming etc. but I got there in the end! https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.n...35449386_o.jpg Really pleased with how it sits and the grip levels from the massive tyres!! Next job was to tart up the interior with some Bride seats, takata harnesses, jdm gear knob and an eBay special steering wheel(best £32 ever spent!) http://i1130.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3cc7fe32.jpg Think it looks the part :norty: In between all this I fit a set of 330mm Grooved and dimpled discs Wilwood superlight calipers with yellow stuff pads on the front and stuck with the standard 2pot rears with yellow stuff pads then hel braided hoses and ap 5.1 fluid all round, the setup is amazing in comparison to standard and even other the brembo setup of the hawk. Attachment 58198 Anyway just going to put a few more pics up now and ad more to this thread later, Thanks for reading and hope you like what I've done! Very nice mate. The car you started out with is exactly what am after if I return to the fold. One thing I don't like is the seats. Fixed seats aren't For me am I big lump of a lad ad be crippled haha. Looks superb work. Love the wheels. What's next? You gona up the power?
|
Love the fixed seats mate, I'm not a small bloke but just like that 'racecar' feel they give! Want a carbon rear seat delete and half cage soon, loads to do yet, power is getting upped next Tuesday by Duncan but nothing too mad I had 450/500 in the hawk and I feel there really is no need, also this is much lighter! Cheers for the comments

Looks Very nice with the mods that you have done to it:thumb:SJ.

Looks mint, mate.
Reminds me of Sticky's fat 4 door that he did himself. https://www.scoobynet.com/projects-4...onversion.html |
Liking the look of that, looks great in white, The face on photo looks great, If I had to be critical I would say I'm not so sure on the pre-facelift bumper with the splitter but it's different and possibly adds to the look, gotta love the 22b looks ;)
|
I would love one like that, very nice looking car
|
Cheers for the comments again lads! I wasn't sure wether to keep the pre-facelift bumper at first Gaz but when I mocked it up was pleasantly suprised, think it's just that tad different and with the splitter smoothed in it follows the lines of the smooth sideskirts well?

Looks awesome mate :thumb:

Looks a good job, nice :)

That looks sweet! Same wheels I put on the 22b I had on forza 4 too. Who did you get the panels off? Quality seem good?
|
It's the HT auto's kit pal, they weren't great tbh, a lot of work needed but it is fiberglass at the end of the day!

That is a very poor advert for a great looking car IMO, 114.3 PCD wheels fitted but no mention of how..Different brakes etc...

looks perfect..

Thanks for all the comments! Just got a VF48 turbo for it as I've decided when it gets mapped tuesday I want a bit more top end power, the VF24 is a great spooling punchy turbo but just runs out of puff a tad quickly for me and the VF48 will still make good gains if I decide to add injectors and a front mount in the future :)

Looks lush Kurt - see you on Tuesday :thumb:
