One escaped from a pet shop in Canada with tragic consequences.

Yeah - some big snake, approx 4.5 metres in length weighing 45kg

chopperman 06 August 2013 03:10 PM

I suspect foul play here.Constricting Snakes don't kill unless they plan to eat the prey. They also bite the prey (normally the head) when they constrict. Snakes do not attack prey that is to big to consume let alone 2 at the same time.
I keep snakes and have done for many years. I used to bread snakes and sell them into the pet trade.

I agree insofar as something doesn't smell right about this case!! That's not to say there is foul play, but this would be VERY atypical behaviour of a constrictor!

To those that say WTF to owning snakes; they actually make excellent pets IF you are prepared to do your homework and tend to the animals specific environmental requirements.

Ah, you be surprised mate. Most pythons available as pets are gentle (to humans) and inquisitive creatures! It's a privilege being in the presence of one of natures great predators and they're actually very pleasant to handle :thumb:

New_scooby_04 07 August 2013 12:12 AM

Eeeeeek, not sure I'd advocate this, but shows how placid they can be!

I agree, plus you cant beat a good old corn snake as a pet. There quite comfortable with kids handling them, easy to look after and a fun creature to study. Downside is they are master escape artists :lol1:

Yeah, I tend to agree.
I've never understood any of that, keeping snakes, tarantulas etc as pets - WTF.

Plus from what I can tell from owners is all they want to do it try to bite you, because they see the hand as food.

Spade through the back of the head is what they need I'm afraid to say
