Impreza Prices to rise?
Following the apparent announcement that Subaru UK will no longer be offering the Impreza to the public after Summer 2013, can we expect to see a rise or inflation on Impreza prices?
More particularly the Classics, Ive noticed have been dwindling in numbers furthermore due to people continuing to break them to make their money. Is it really a good idea now? Are the prices now on the rise especially for the special editions both UK and Imports? :freak3: |
not yet, maybe in ten years lol
|
I can't see them being anything but council estate beaters for years yet except for the mint special editions.
|
There are plenty of low cost UK cars here at the moment ;) although the JDM market is holding strong ;) all about supply and demand :D
IMHO Tony |

More and more are being bought by dole dossers with no money, hence poorly maintained and eventually finding rest at the local scrap yard. The few that are owned by enthusiasts who throw money at them sell for big bucks or get broken for parts. In ten years the mint standard special edition cars will demand a very high price. |
I think the next few years will be key, now that the "dole dossers" are ruining the majority - only the minters will be left. At that point, they'll start to gain a bit of value.
I know a chap who made 500quid on a widetrack STI in the 6months he owned it... does that count as appreciation? :D |
Widetrack sti's are the last car with 2.0 engine and reasonable road tax so maybe one that will hold value better, I have noticed since I bought my widetrack jdm and looking at prices they still sell for I am likely to lose less on this than my previous uk wrx, but can't see then rising to much until they are available on classic insurance and become a weekend toy, pretty much how the cossies are now.

Won't be many classics left going by the figure of the NBO
The chavs will continue to buy and ruin them and there won't be many left in3/4 years just the enthuasists Bugs and blobs will go down that route in a few years too Hawks with the 2.5 will be the strange one and will suffer heavy depreciation with higher rfl amd of course the chocolate piston New STi hatches are the one I would not like to predict as everyone of them will have had 5k engine rebuilds with quality components and there is not many of them around so could become collectors cars once they had the proper engine bite put it. Can't think Subaru will last much longer in the uk though with forresters at 30k and BRZ to rare and limited production doesn't help along with three year warrenty instead of toyotas 5yr standard warrenty |
No chance, there's still way too many of them and 99% aren't that special.
The 22B is the only true star in the Impreza world. Spec Cs, P1s and the likes maybe in a few years time The rest.... can't see it myself! |
I agree with Lordy,
I organised the Impreza 20th anniversary at Prodrive last year. The plan was 2 cars from each year of the Impreza history as near to standard as possible for the timeline along the front of Prodrive HQ. We had a massive problem finding classics that were anywhere near standard. Not many left. We have an event next year & I'm worried the situation will be worse:( Dean |

99% of modified cars get ruined. The first owner to mod (no matter how well intentioned) will invariably get bored or run out of money, it then gets passed on to someone else down the chain who then probably puts a fake roof vent on and an ebay trumpet BOV. When he is hurting from the insurance and running costs, it gets sold for £900 to another chav who rags in everywhere and doesn't service it, it probably acquires a new badly fitting ebay body kit painted in primer. By now the arches are rusted to fook and it's probably acquired a CAT D at some point in its life. A man in a vest with a shaved head was seen booting it around the estate at 11pm. None of the tyres are the same.
No wonder we struggled to find them |
Ill be keeping my 3 scoobs for the next 10-15 years so I'm hoping that they may turn into the next mk1-2 escorts as they have the rally pedigree and the following like the escorts did back in the day and we all know how much they are worth now even the bangers go for 2-3k easy,,,,,only time will tell I suppose ,, but if they do go up in value I think iv picked some ok ones ,,iv got a highly modded blob ,,a 55 plate hawkeye sti (low tax band). And version 1 that's two thousand and something of the first ever impreza production line so fingers crossed at least one of them will be worth something in 10 years lol

I prefer the Ruby Rox Recital one myself.
Perhaps it's the colour that does it. |
Echo some of the some of the sentiments above, it will be the minty fresh as close to standard as possible ones that will fetch decent money.
I don't think it will matter so much what it is, obviously there will be a premium on some cars like your Type R's and RA's, P1's, and RB5 but a mint turbo 2000 or a nice Wagon will have the rarity value, try and find a mk1 1300 escort estate, they are like rocking horse sh!t with diamond studs and worth a lot to the right person. At the end of the day only time will tell, but you only have to look at cars like the mini, beetle, Escort, MG's all sh!tty rot boxes in their day but original minters are worth a few quid in any guise. |

I'm confused now after reading this: https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...-2014-sti.html |
I think the name Impreza is being dropped, but not the name WRX.
As far as I know the 2014 models will be branded Subaru WRX. |

Joking apart, I've been thinking about mods for my Blob Type 20, but as it's completely standard other than the rear spoiler, I'm becoming more inclined to leave it just as it is and try to keep it in the best possible condition to hopefully maintain its future value. I'll try to buy an original spoiler and keep it in the loft (not with my wife...) and just use the car carefully. Before I saw this topic, I'd been looking around to see if there were any original early Imprezas for sale. The first ones will be eligible for classic insurance now, but as has already been said, they're becoming very scarce. |
