turbo2000 in limp mode after injector change

Hi all,

changed the injectors from the standard grey ones to the better yellow ones and car has been in limp mode (check engine) ever since, and wont rev past 3500k and pops and bangs. Any ideas how to get it back to normal without changing them back.

It has the 8S ECU

cheers

get a remap, you cant just change parts willy nilly on impreza's

no point whatsoever changing injectors unless your planning on a bigger turbo at the same time

scoobynshag 03 July 2013 07:22 PM

It does have a bigger turbo fitted and decatted but since fitting the cat back on for the MOT and not having the time to change it it runs badly and uses more fuel, could it have been remapped for decat and how much would a remap be just for the injectors as there are some mobile mappers out there, are they any good ?

There is your help.
If you want to continue using these parts you will need a remap like TT says.

scoobynshag 03 July 2013 07:28 PM

Ok dont worry then i will get help elsewhere

RICHARD J 03 July 2013 07:28 PM

Different size injectors deliver different quantities of fuel so your fueling will be totally screwed up. As TT says get a remap before you wreck your engine. You will need a full remap unless you know who did it before if it ever been done.

You asked for help here:

A remap will sort out your running issues and you can then safely drive your car without removing the new parts.
If you don't like the answer it's not our fault mate.

scoobynshag 03 July 2013 07:30 PM

Like i said it had the cat refitted for its MOT but i dont get time to change it back as its my daily driver, I know it will need remapping and i did actually ask if mobile mappers are any good as there aren't many round my way (if any) and i dont want to drive it 100's miles just to do it

Blue by You 03 July 2013 07:33 PM

You don't need a mobile mapper 'round your way'.
The whole idea is that they come to you.
Google Racedynamix or Jolly Green Monster if you need a mobile mapper.

scoobynshag 03 July 2013 07:36 PM

Right ok, I know different injectors deliver different rates of fuel, i'm not used to scoobies, my other cars had learning ECU's and would learn the rate of the injector (within reason of course) but these ECU's dont, thats what i didnt know, so how much would i be looking at for a full remap, dont need any massive gains or crazy torque increases as its just a daily driver with a bit of kick behind it ?

Turbotits 03 July 2013 07:40 PM

If your not looking for massive gains then may i ask why youve fitted bigger injectors?

Blue by You 03 July 2013 07:42 PM

A full first time remap with an EcuTek licence fee can cost anything up to £600.
It depends what has already been done and what is to do.
Best bet is to give a mapper a call and talk it over.

scoobynshag 03 July 2013 07:43 PM

True but i dont think injectors alone will push the BHP up too far

i don't think they will do anything at all, what turbo do you have in the car now

But it's not just injectors is it?

the injectors were buggered on the car and were causing major probs and i bought some blitz leads and they happened to be sold with them so i had them and not knowing that scooby ecu's wouldnt learn the rate of the new injectors i thought not a problem i will fit these ones, easy mistake to make

scoobynshag 03 July 2013 07:46 PM

The turbo and decat were done by previous owner and no EML showing so thats why i am assuming its had a remap

tubbytommy 03 July 2013 07:47 PM

yes but you need to know what turbo you have so we can advise you on the cc of injectors required

Blue by You 03 July 2013 07:49 PM

I'll leave it with you Tommy boy ;)

scoobynshag 03 July 2013 07:53 PM

will go out and have a look in the next hour and get back to you, it had grey injectors before, would fitting a identical set back on resolve the EML issue ?

tubbytommy 03 July 2013 07:55 PM

unmapped mods like injectors wont work, you need to read the eml code and find out what it is as it may be completely unrelated to the injectors.

scoobynshag 03 July 2013 07:58 PM

I have OBD software for most if not all cars, where is the diagnostics plug on a 97 scooby ?

Swedge 03 July 2013 08:02 PM

Having a decat won't always bring up the eml light so it might not even have been remapped

Plenty sellers out there that tell porkies to bump up the price

You can see if the Ecuador has a daughter board fitted or not, it's in the footwell

Not sure why year your car is though as it might not need a daughter board

Turbotits 03 July 2013 08:03 PM

97 cars are not obd compliant. Do a search for manually reading codes
