does anyone use a sti type r every day ?

as title, my heart tells me i want a sti type r v limted but my uses will be a 20 mile round trip to work every day and the odd play at weekends am i being silly choosing one of these cars ?

I used my RA Ltd everyday for a 30 mile round trip. Apart from the fuel bills no other problems. Only difference between the 2 is a couple of doors.

was it standard ? bet you had a fun drive to and from work :)

Kwik 18 June 2013 09:33 PM

Yup until today it was my daily drive. I only live 3-4 miles from work, but they are 3-4 interesting miles in a TypeR.

myblackwrx 18 June 2013 09:48 PM

Yep i use mine on about a 18 mile round trip (mainly dual carriageway with a fecking speed limit of 50mph!!!).
Mine does have a 5th gear from a newage WRX which does make rev lower doing cruising speed.

all good things im hearing :)

ronjeramy 18 June 2013 09:52 PM

Yep, I do 40miles a day back roads in the morning and M62 in the evening. I'm also running Cusco coilovers which are rock hard. :eek2: :D The ride, the gearing and the lack of sound deadening doesn't bother me either. Get the car bought you won't regret it :thumb:

banny sti 18 June 2013 09:59 PM

I use mine for work and back too, 14 mile round trip :)

EOEUMC 19 June 2013 10:24 AM

I would of thought you need at least 10-15miles each way, to get it warmed up nicely :D

EOEUMC 19 June 2013 10:25 AM

Stupid bloody servers! I only clicked it once but still got a re-post :(

2.1 Stroker, VF35 & Newage TMIC = 310bhp

Coil-overs, ARB's, Droplinks, Anti-lift kit, braces, Brembos & DS2500's and I took the back country lanes home. In the morning (starting work at 7) clear by-passes and a lot of fun (apart from 2 x run ins with plod :nono:)

Only stopped doing that mileage Jan 2013 after using the RA for 2 1/2 years for the travelling. Before that I had a MY95 WRX for 6 1/2 years doing the same journey.

Now I'm not doing the mileage I am carrying out the next round of mods and going for approx 450bhp.

I use my Type R for work now and again for a treat but would get tiresome everyday I reckon, gearing does not suit motorway driving.....neither do the fuel bills! Diesel audi does most of the boring work.

Echo this statement!

My Type R is used for work roughly twice a month as a treat, normally a Friday when I want to get home quick ;) I think the less you use them the more special they feel when you do go out for a blast. Also have a diesel Audi for slogging.

banny sti 20 June 2013 02:18 PM

Have longer gearing on mine so a little better as a daily driver and always feels special when the right foot goes down ;)

Jay m A 20 June 2013 02:33 PM

Up until last year I used my car for the 16 mile round trip daily commute for 8 years in my STI RA. I know its got 4 door rather than your 2 but the school run was much easier :)

The short gearing is my favourite thing about the car.....I'd hate to lose that on a B road blast. Hence the only sensible option is 2 cars :norty:

well i have just bought myself a little 1.2 corsa for getting to work and back till i get all my cash together to buy what i want which shouldnt take long but i have to say its prooving to be a great little car so might keep it so i can get the type r and not have to use it everyday :)

I think his 600+bhp compensates for the longer gearing.:D
