*2013* Triple Pod - New Age and Classice

Hello all

This was originally run at the end of last year and proved very successful.

Today i have contacted the owner as my Mum (Yes, my mum) has bought a blob Sti. I obviously needed a newage pod for some 60mm gauges i bought her. I asked if there was any chance of running another GB.

The supplier is willing to run the group buy again. Options available are :-

Classic 52mm & 60mm
Newage 52mm & 60mm

The cost is £45 or $70US delivered to your door.

These don't have clips, however, i have used sticky velcro strips and they don't move on even the most spirited of drives.

Please start a list for those interested with model type and gauge size.

im sort of interested but with no clips to hold them in place im a bit worried it might jump out of place,i work down a quarry and the road to work is a wee bit bumpy

I live in Surrey, a quarry has nothing on the roads round here :)

No one else has had any issues with mounting as its such a snug fit. I used sticky back velcro. Mainly because i know at some stage i will upgrade my gauges and if the current ones stop working i can investigate with ease.

Would this fit the classic with the centre pocket? If so ill have one with the 60mm.

I would like a 52mm for Newage please. What happens if customs stick a tax on can this be avoided?
How do you pay?

tubbytommy 28 June 2013 07:52 PM

Dont want to ruin your thread but as you know emma bought one.
I have to say the fit and general quality is very poor.

Markfey 28 June 2013 07:52 PM

Tony, its pot luck unfortunately. I've never had an issue and I've now bought 3, 1 new age and 2 classic (me, dad and mum).

However, I get charged everytime I buy from Rallytech. Ill send you a pm

tubbytommy 28 June 2013 07:54 PM

How did you stick yours down on newage?

Markfey 28 June 2013 08:54 PM

Tommy,

I'm not making any money so it doesn't bother me. I was really happy with mine and thought id set up the gb to assist other, there are plenty of happy customers including myself.

Was yours not bought directly through eBay so bought outside of the gb?

Markfey 28 June 2013 08:56 PM

My dad did the new age as it was for my mums car. Ill give him a call tomorrow and try and get him to take some pics and send you and explanation.

Sorry for the slow replies but at work and using my phone.

Tubs,

You might want to PM Stu.sti he's on the original thread on page 4 with photos and looks like he's done a great job https://www.scoobynet.com/953175-tri...new-age-4.html

My dad has emailed me back and taken it a little too seriously.

Like all aftermarket additions there is some work to do to get them to fit to your specific requirement. The pod you have purchased is no exception and some minor d i y skills are needed to secure the pod to the centre dash board. You will find that after removing the manufacturers clock housing there is a void and you will have to disconnect the clock as it will be unable to be housed in the new pod section. There are various ways to secure this pod but it is favoured to purchase from your local d i y store a strip of plastic bar measuring approx 50 mm wide by 280 mm long and about 5 mm thick. Measure the distance between the sides of the aperture and allow at least 12 mm each side for fixings. Reverting to the pod there is a section prior to the 3 holes accommodating the gauges on the underside of the pod. Apply one side of Velcro self adhesive to this . Measure the distance from the front of the underside of the pod and apply this measurement to the aperture, marking it to line up with the Velcro strip. In cert the plastic bar to the underside of the aperture and fix with two self tapping screws, making sure it is securely fastened to the dash aperture. Apply the opposing Velcro strip to the flat plastic bar ensuring they line up for best result.
For additional fixings add a further Velcro strip to the rear of the underside of the aperture, with the opposing side to the underside of the pod. The aforementioned easy fix and secures the pod safely even with the rough roads we have to endure. It also allows you to expose the gauges and wiring with ease. As an addition should you have the alarm red led flashing light at this position you can drill an accomadating hole in the pod to house it.
This is Mr fix it and its just that easy!!
