You need to check basics first, fuel pressure and spark

JDM_Stig 20 April 2013 09:39 AM

crank or cam sensor

I'm not sure if the early classics have this but there maybe diagnostic test plugs under the dash drivers side, two green plugs and two black plugs which are plugged together so you can read fault codes.

Bit out there this, but is ecu fully plugged in (mab a plug is partly out ) sounds like fuel starvation .....

Could be spark. if it was driving and cut out then spark. fuel normally splutters a few times before cut out. spark will just die. make sure all HT leads are ok

My Forester done this to me a little while ago and the cam sensor connection had come loose, clipped it back on properly and it was fine again.

Check basics of course but how long have you owned it? Cambelt may of broke and it will never start if so.

Just a thought.

don't take it out of the packaging, until exploring those suggestions through.
