Noise from turbo area

Hi all,
I have got a wrx n reg and I have a rattle noise from the turbo area. It sounds like a heat shield but all seems secure? Any ideas or anyone else got/has this[/QUOTE]

It usually is the heat shield, whip it off and recheck:thumb:

On what bit mate

Its normally the heatshield covering the downpipe from the turbo, its there to stop the brake cylinder from getting too hot i think (could be totally wrong, as i am no mechanic). I think it has two skins to it, sometimes it comes lose and rattles.

Cheers will have a look later. My down pipe is a decat and has no heat shield

Could it be a bracket from the decat fouling on something?

It sounds like its inside turbo

Does it sound more like a scratching on idle then increase with higher revs? I only ask as I've just removed a turbo that's knackered and that sounded like a scratching, metal on metal. Failing that it would be a case of trying to tighten up anything that may have worked loose, I'm sure somebody will be along to advise you further:thumb:

Had Duncan from race dynamics this afternoon sorting mapping and he said its heat shield.
