Advice on Porsche calipers....Which to go for?
 

Hey, I wondered if anyone has fitted any porsche calipers to their newage impreza, does anyone know which model of Porsches will fit MY03 WRX? I've heard cayenne turbos or 997 gt3s will fit.... Any thoughts would be amazing! Thanks guys

i have the powerstation porsche upgrade package on my newage wrx,i think they are from a 997 gt3 and they definatly turn heads,the powerstation kit comes with pagid pads which are really good to be fair,they were 5 years old when i got my car and had done around 40k but were well worn at that time but they do last a long time

i just had to replace the front rotors and pads,i got the rotors from rogerclark motorsport as these came out cheaper than anybody else and i had the pads (brembo sport hp) supplied and machined to fit by alyn @ as performance
he has 1 of my old pads now for future orders to get the correct shape as there is no off the shelf pad.i was really disappointed with powerstation as they were not helpful when it came to sourcing new parts for this conversion-they said i have to wait until 10 orders came in so they could get the stuff at the right price.....WTF? ? ? no good to me when my pads are worn out

they have been on my car for 6 years now and the red hasnt faded at all which is good

me too,its great when sat at some traffic lights and the people next to me are looking over trying to figure out what sort of porsche i drive :)

or you could ring a few porsche breakers and get prices on the 997 gt3 calipers second hand (dont get the discs as they will be of no use to you) then send them off to as performance so he can make you some carriers to fit your car (im sure he does stuff like this) then just buy the pads and discs

because the pads you have to order for them calipers are from a gt3 (not sure if 911 or 997) but either way they are from a gt3

yes they fit perfectly BUT you will need to run 18" wheels for clearance

trust me when i say your car will become a talking point,when im at the garage people are gazing at them,one guy even came up to me and said

"porsche brakes on a subaru.............thats ****ing brill" then he walked off

surely when you get them from a breakers though the rotor part of the disc is right its the bell that needs changing for subaru fitment, the rotor just bolts on as its a 2 piece disc

not sure that Porsche use the 2 piece ap set up mate I think they use a carbon ceramic disc

the Porshe uses a solid disc set-up on the factory cars so they are no good either way, this is one of the main reasons why you require the pad to be machined for clearance when using a 2pce kit..........

the other issue with those (whilst they do look nice) is the very limited cost effective pad options for this application - IMO is far more effective to simply use a more common AP caliper, etc.

can assist with custom engineering / brake parts as required

I too have the powerstation set up on my newage STI.

I got mine off ebay (These came off the old the White Powerstation race car), I got these for very good price, (Infact i've had two sets of these off ebay over the years, Paid £587 for the first set(calipers needed a refurb but had discs, bells and pads) and the current set I paid £486, These needed a replacement bell, Caliper bolts, Discs and pads(Got a brand new set of Pagid Rs29 pads of the same guy for £29) I had god speed refurb the calipers and replace all the seals and had new discs and bolts.

So I had basically a brand new set up for around £1200.

I've tried a few different setups over the years, Brembos, Ksport, Scoobyclinic 6pots and really love these.

Agreed about the cost of pads but as I only do 1-2000 miles a year these should see quite a few years

Great info guys thanks! Been doing a lot of research over the last few months , but can't find anyone who sells the rotors and especially bells!? Anyone got any ideas?
