Jeses Christ, how fast is technology moving. Only LED and a few Plasma.

stilover 05 April 2013 07:27 PM

And give it another year and you won't be able to get a Plasma, which is a shame as I think they still give a better picture than LED's.

I think the new OLED's will move the game on again.

ALi-B 05 April 2013 07:58 PM

I hope you told them that LED TV are all LCD. ;) :norty:

CCFL backlit TVs were always a bit poo. It was only a matter of time.

pslewis 05 April 2013 08:30 PM

Plasma's were, are, and will be the very best for a long, long, long time!

Really?

The pic quality on LED's is far better than Plasma. The difference between LCD and LED is big enough, let alone the difference between plasma and LED.

Roll on 4k!!

Petes a little long in the tooth ;) you have to forgive him for his outdated views!

Maybe...if everyone views from no more than 10 degrees either side of the median.

Anyone outside this can expect massive colour fade from LED, LCD etc, but NOT from Plasma.

My Panasonic 100Hz HUGE Quintrix may be up for sale soon as my wife hates it and wants a nice slim but inferior LED job.

Panasonic Plasma's are the best in the business.

All because I have one.

end of,,,close thread.

davegtt 07 April 2013 10:13 AM

lol @ people STILL believing LCD TVs are even worth looking at, I hate watching somebody elses crap LCD TV. Always rated Plasmas much higher than the other crap.My Panasonic Veira that I bought in 2004 for 2k still provides a better picture than my parents LCD that they bought 2 years ago.

Leslie 07 April 2013 03:42 PM

I have to say, with a certain amount of relief, that the Panasonic LCD I have recently bought has a slightly better picture than the Panasonic Plasma which I had before.

I was surprised to find that is the case.

Sorry Les but its not really a turn up that something newer is better than something older. Not really like for like.....

:nono:

And which company bought Pioneer's plasma technology after they pulled out of the market, oh yes is was Panasonic.

No matter what anyone in Currys tells you LED TVs are not that, they are LCD with an LED back light, the edge lit panels are still not great for contrast and black levels, the matrix lit panels are getting there but still not a patch on a decent plasma (i.e. Panasonic).

End of discussion.

Why apologise? I did spend some time making comparisons before changing tv's and of course they have obviously improved the colour change time on LCD screens now. I was merely mentioning what I see for passing interest.
