JDM Bugeye STI Wagon

Really, really going to regret this but here goes..

After nearly 3 years I've decided to sell my very rare bugeye sti wagon. I looked for a long time to find a good one of these, I did see the odd one for sale but this is a very nice car! I know I'll never replace it and hopefully nobody buys it..

This car is standard, it's very quick as it stands. It's the only turbo car I've had that I've not felt the need to modify. When I got the car it had a rock to the idle from cold and I eventually found out the exhaust valves were not seating nicely. About this time last year I found a good set of 2nd hand AVCS heads (valve seats were cleanly seating and I measured the clearances before fitting to make sure they were within the factory specs) and fitted those. No corners cut at all, all the proper genuine subaru gaskets & bits and a new cambelt and tensioner at the same time (despite one only being done a few k before) As I say, I did this work a year ago and the car has been faultless since, never uses any oil or coolant. It's had a couple of oil changes since this and the most recent was Silkolene 10w50.

The interior is in exceptional condition and still has quite a fresh feel to it, no nasty wear anywhere.

The bodywork is also really nice and the paint is nice and bright. There is a couple of small rust marks coming on the o/s r arch but this was due to the previous owner chipping paint off the inner edge of the arch lip and leaving it exposed for a while. I did touch it up but it's just started coming through after a couple of years. Other than that tiny touch up the body panels are all original and the car is amazingly straight and clean, a few car park dings and a tiny mark on the bonnet and bumper where my mrs shut the garage door down on it :Whatever_

I have serviced the car myself as I'm very anal about looking after my cars. It doesn't get a great deal of use and has always been garaged. I use the oil filter for the Mazda RX8 which is the same make as the old Subaru oil filters before they switched to the new blue ones. The RX8 filter has the same bypass pressure too. The coolant system is fresh and clean, clutch had plenty of life. The gearbox is a pleasure to use and has no faults. The bottom end looked good when I took the heads off, no marks on the bores and nice and clean. I do have a stack of paperwork for the car. The previous owner spent a fortune on the car when it came over, new brembos, cambelt, major service inc gbox oil, brake fluid change, full alignment etc etc.

The only negatives are the o/s arch & the n/s r shock knocks over certain bumps.

This car drives very, very well. It pulls very hard and stops amazingly.

The mileage is about 70k miles now, the odometer reads 93k (digital) but it came over with 68k km on and was converted to run in mph so it's 68k km plus 25k miles). I've probably only done about 5k in 3 years! It's had more use in the last two months than the last 3 years :lol1: and it's been a joy to use.

MOT is until October 2013, tax is out End of March (cheaper tax now they changed it again)

I love this car, I really do. Unfortunately reasons out of my control mean I have to sell

That's stunning mate would you be interested in a swap?

jameswrx 09 February 2013 12:35 PM

Cheers guys, it's a rare beast indeed.

Only thing I'll do is a px with a cheap hatch, up to £1600. Early Clio 172 or early a3/golf 1.8T

Hello very nice STI wagon there (better than a blue one I've seen a few years ago imported in the south)

How many previous owners?
When was it imported? Who was the importer?
When was that odometer converted from kmph to mph, and by who?

And, you had a couple of oil changes in the last year, but you have only done 5000 miles in 3 years of ownership? So I guess when you bought the car the odo read 88k...? You do change oil very often...!

jameswrx 10 February 2013 03:00 AM

One previous owner.

The car was converted to miles on import. I have the papers for import (is it de registration doc?)

Yes, I change the oil every 6 months or so regardless of mileage.

I might not have even done that many miles, just guessing when I wrote the ad. I have the MOT's and think one year I did mileage in the hundreds!

you dont see these for sal often, very nice, sure it wont hang around.

Yes a new age JDM STI for under 6k... soo tempting...

jameswrx 11 February 2013 07:30 AM

I had a better look last night. Came over with 83k km's and only done 11k miles by me & prev owner in last 5 years (MOT's to prove) so mileage is more like 63k miles

Thankyou for all the comments gents, and thanks to the interested party's.

A deposit has been received.

I am gutted, a lot of good family memories for me in this car and my son will be very sad to see it go, as will I.

kirbwrx 13 May 2013 03:09 PM

Congrats on the quick sale. I will be posting my white wagon up soon as well. Poor thing just sits and gets driven once every other month.

STI?

Hate seeing these pics

Worst bit about selling the car is the money is just paying the bills.

Wagon_Si 15 May 2013 11:36 AM

nice car, it inspired me to turn my wrx wagon into an sti spec. Though mine is Mica Red.

I was very lucky to get an interior from one, which really kick started it off. Just got gearbox, hubs and diff to do I think and remove roof rails.
