remap gains for 2005 sti ppp with small mods

Hi all, iv had my impreza sti ppp 4 months now and was wondering what sort of gains could be expected with an ecu remap. It has a green cotton panel filter, forge dump valve and 3 inch exhaust. Any info would be appriciated. Thanks, richy

about 330 ish.

my blob sti has 3 inch decat, induction kit and fmic and got 352 on rcm's rollers

richyprodrive1988 15 January 2013 05:19 PM

Is it prodrive? I dont really wanna decat mine as want to mot it without changing back yearly. Although i have been looking at fmic. As with most things, im guessing the quality increases with price?

Duncan from RaceDynamix is coming to Durham this Friday. He mapped by Blob PPP Sti and it made a massive difference.

it was dunc (dynamix) who mapped mine.

Andy Forrest remapped my old 05 STI PPP
It made 337 with similar torque

But in ts not just the power difference.
Its quite simply a better driving car at the end of the day with the extra torque available.

Plus it will give you a much nicer power band to work with.
After mapping, mine pulled very strongly from approx 2.5K right up to 6.5K with 1.4bar boost - I think full boost was available from 2.6K
It then tapered down to 1bar at 7K.
I see no point taking these cars beyond 6/6.5K anyway, I find it best to simply grab another gear

You should see 330 to 340 bhp with the Prodrive CAT
Not sure id fit a FMIC though as the top mount should be good for around 400bhp
I use Tacktive Solutions there in Melton Mowbray for my tuning Richard Bulmer as mapped my 05 STI on a number of occasions you will find them very professional and Rich is one of the top mappers in Europe well worth a visit this guys really do look after your car.

You will have power gains with a fmic over a tmic right from 300bhp upwards. For example if you got 330bhp with a tmic, you will probably see 350 with a fmic; 350 with tmic => 375 with fmic; 400 with tmic => 440 with fmic.

Sure it is possible to get 400bhp with a tmic but why hold it back when a decent fmic will improve power and safety.

I wouldnt necessarily do a fmic for the OP though, just a decent remap will see that hit 340 ish bhp with very minimal work or cost.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Has it mapped by Duncan last Friday. He got 321bhp and 316 ftlb of torque. Due to me living 20 miles from the nearest shell garage, I've been filing up with esso super unleaded. He said had I been using vpower I could of had 330bhp plus. Didn't realise it made that much difference. I'll know for next time tho haha. Looking to go up the upgraded turbo route now

Looks like a FMIC and tweak is my next present off Mrs C then.

Hi..I've got the same 2005 sti ppp was thinking of a remap myself how does the car drive with the remap?

Thanks

romford-boy 28 January 2013 09:54 PM

Would it be possible (and reasonable) to remap a standard 2005 STI (non PPP) without changing the downpipe or exhaust? I don't want extra noise or MOT issues but would like plenty more torque and low range response.

Bob Rawle 28 January 2013 10:03 PM

Yes is the answer, the top end will be gated but you should still be able to have good mid range torque, you will need to uprate the fuel pump though.

cheers

bob
