Looks very tidy Si. It's quite hard getting modern equipment to intergrate with the old interior of these classics. I think you've done a smashing job. Between the knock link and the lamcos it should give you a pretty good idea of what's going on.

Arnt we due some exterior shots of the car :)

Thanks Joe, yes your dead right let's be honest it's an old fashion interior to modern day standards, the gauges are period that helped a lot and initially I was after one of the original link sensors, ok bloody awful looking things in the box supplied but I would have fitted that so I was very pleased on how well the ks3 fits in there too.

Yes I know I need a few more outside pictures, now it's drier I'll be getting on my mates lawn one day for a few grass shots

Thanks, I just use a metal wax.... I'm still using a pot of Meguires at the moment I'll use that on both exhaust and the polish ally, my gearbox is going a bit scabby as I knew it would but that's fine as it's dry and free of oil etc.

CREWJ 23 April 2014 06:18 PM

That and Si has OCD :lol1:

Silver Scooby Sport 04 May 2014 07:53 PM

Spent a couple of hours today just having a go under the car, first time I have been under there since finishing it off so after a wash down I applied some metal wax to the wishbones and also Poorboys to the caliper brakes etc.

Another job was the Brembo decals fitted on, great contrast against the red caliper. I have to say I'm very impressed the way the car drives, handling is spot on it's so responsive and holds the road really well and one thing that has surprised me is just how quick the acceleration is.... With it high revving when you put your foot down there is no lag it's instantaneous it boosts and pulls like a train and you can cover some serious ground. I've been putting a few miles on it recently and it's a raw drive for sure, lots of noise that you don't hear in other models.

This is the first time I've cleaned the wishbones since the build...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...CA8335FBFE.jpg

Another job was to get the paint out and touch up any marks from the build, so where the spanner had been on for the tracking etc has been touched up.

Great contrast

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...1C8B9BB39B.jpg

Also waiting for a set of wheels to arrive but I do have one odd one so had to try fit and see what it looks like...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...959DDB72C8.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...530D49B446.jpg

Then remembered I had a whiteline decal to go on....

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...9F4EA6CE0E.jpg

I've removed the rear diff brace as for my use it was not really suitable, created a drumming noise on the motorway with the rigidity.

At some point I'll pick up the Sti oval wing decals up along with the quick rack decal for the rear window.

To say I am envious is an understatement... Love this car!

joe v3sti 04 May 2014 09:02 PM

Nice to see your keeping on top of it, now it's getting some mileage on her.
I agree they acceleration of a standard Ra is blistering. The v2 Ra gearbox is just so close I love it. Glad you got yourself a set of revolutions too :)

Thanks Joe... The acceleration has really surprised me, my new age was 340bhp and this feels quicker it pushes you back into the seat... You know better than anyone I know. The wheels are on route just need to get a hold of them, the gold one is an odd one that found me :lol1: very limiting with Brembo's what to get but for me these are perfect.

Thanks Richy... You had a hell of a car in that B mate but you will get back to another at some point, I think now you have done the B you can now sit back and plan your next step when you are ready.

JonMc 04 May 2014 09:16 PM

Still looks like the day it came out of the workshop - what metal wax did you use:thumb:

Silver Scooby Sport 04 May 2014 09:34 PM

Finishing of a pot of Meguiars at the moment Jon and wondering what to get next or the same again.

I used the Poorboys wheel sealant on the disc centres, struts, laterals, Calipers etc it's great stuff and so versatile, this I will be staying with its one of the best products I've used.

I use a radiator paint brush to clean the arches :lol1: so when I wash the car a quick squirt of de greaser followed by the brush makes life easy to clean.

JonMc 04 May 2014 09:42 PM

I've just about finished my poorboys and I've got a pot of rimwax to break open, hadn't really thought about all of the other uses for it but sounds like a great idea:thumb:

I like my megs metal polish, better than the autosol I had before:thumb:

What I have learnt is just how basic these cars are, ok this has been a different project for me in my approach but if I was looking for a refresh maybe like you and a few others on here I would suggest thinking about compiling a list of parts all second hand oem... Basically all the running gear my build pictures show it broken down, I would suggest looking for a rusted away mot failier, not a crash damaged one, then refurb everything off that in your leisure.... Doing multipal parts in one hit makes the jobs easier and more cost effective especially when you get it bead blasted, then you can decide how your going to swap it all over utilising parts off yours to keep and swapping out the other items.
You don't even need to swap over then in one hit but you will have everything ready for when you do. Many thanks as well LH as it's great comments from you guys and positive input that has also helped me to keep going, I've always been on a budget here too and in the main have stuck to it and it's is possible to achieve without spending daft mounts of money trust me.

The reason I suggest one car is you know it had all worked and bolted together
Gathering multipal parts from different cars may not all marry quite so well with tolerances changing, this I feel was why mine went back together so well because it was the car. Also your not then working through the cold winter on it when the cars off the road.

I will admit that rain is something I have not been out in Chris, damp yes rain no but even with white arches it's the paint finish that helps it's easy to wash down, a hell of a lot easier than black underseal.

Ian I treated myself to a new jack what more can I say :D

Looking great :) will look the nuts on those wheels!

trails 05 May 2014 12:16 PM

Si one thing you must do it clean the paint off the contact points between the hubs and the wheels...just stick a little copper slip on to keep it corrosion free :)

Silver Scooby Sport 05 May 2014 04:08 PM

Good point Ian I'll give that a fine sanding at some point, it's rattle can Hammeritte so not that much in thickness in reality.

STI Glenn 05 May 2014 04:51 PM

Very clean that ,wheels look spot on
