As a child of the 70's I went to see Debbie Harry last year to rekindle my love.

She can no longer sing live.
Just awful.

Marc Almond's a better female singer than she is. (Saw him, too)

Sandy Denny, Celia Humphris, Liz Fraser (Cocteau Twins), Sonja Krystina, Debby Harry, Jacquie McShee, Judy Collins, Judith Durham, Grace Slick.

None of them needed double tracking, and they could do it live too.

Must be an age thing I only reconigse Harry , pink and Kelly Clarkson are not bad at all

I like Lana Del Rey.

All her music is depressing!

Complete with fully electronic backing track played, it would seem, on a Rolf Harris stylophone. Jeeeeesus!

Note to so-called pop gurus: when these little biatches are on radio, ie: we can't see how sexy they (maybe) are, it FAILS!!!!!!

Whatever happened to girls who could SING, Debbie Harry being one?

The present offering is lame, boring and bland. Get it gone, PLEASE! Does ANYONE actually BUY these tracks?

(alcazar: just tuned into Hallam to eat my tea, my wife having American Pap TV on AGAIN, and was bombarded with Kelly Clarkson, (is it Jeremy's girl? If so I now hate him 100% more!), someone just called "Cheryl" and Pink.)
Bland, bland, bland, boring, boring, boring and TALENTLESS!!!!!!!!

I am not a music expert or lover but I really do not think anyone could call "Pink" talentless.
Can't comment on any of the others you listed.

She LOOKS great, I'll give her that.

But can she SING? I've only ever heard examples of her double and triple tracked, so i'd say........NO!

I totally agree Al and I've still relatively young :lol1:

I have didn't even connect up the aerial to my radio in the car as I have no reason to listen to the radio as it's all rubbish these days. Now if I had DAB that would be a different story.

Didn't she sing Live on the x-factor last week?.
What is your interpretation of "singing" though? If you mean note-perfect live then most, not even those in the past that you mentioned, can do that.

And what is talent? I'd rather have a not so great singer singing a song they'd wrote than a gormless model singing in tune someone else's rehashed trash.

Stay with it until 2:20 *In high heels as well*

I'm no Pink fan but have to bow to that....

Luan Pra bang 07 December 2012 06:59 PM

Adele, Emilie Sande, Christina Aguilera none of them can sing a lick clearly

joz8968 07 December 2012 07:13 PM

You want dreadful lyrics? Who remembers Des'ree's 'gem' in Life:-

# ...I don't want to see a ghost
It's the sight that I fear most
I'd rather have a piece of toast...
#

Seriously, WTF.

It's beyond comical.

hux309 07 December 2012 10:43 PM

Kristina Train is pretty decent.

Chip 08 December 2012 05:29 PM

Not forgetting the wonderful Eva Cassidy of course.

Chip

CrisPDuk 08 December 2012 08:02 PM

Eva Cassidy is overrated :nono:

Nobody can say this isn't talent, on a huge scale :notworthy

And this was an outstanding performance;

joz8968 08 December 2012 09:49 PM

FFS. Just seen the ad asking for contestents for 2013's X Fvckedoff.

Please... make... it... stop.

To echo Andrew Lincoln in Love Actually: "Enough. Enough now."

Tulisa really bugs me. Talentless and plain, but made out to be some kind of megastar. I think Cowell saw how big Cheryl Cole got and thought he could do the same with any girl.

Was that you with the glasses clapping at 1:19?

I like some Blondie tracks but damn that sounded like a cat being strangled.

One trick pony. It's costing sh*t loads to recoup the cost of all the producers and lyricists.

corradoboy 09 December 2012 07:04 PM

Plenty of great female artists, just don't expect the mainstream media to give them a minute of airtime.

Sarah McLachlan
Heather Nova
Alison Kraus
Beth Hart
KT Tunstall
Tori Amos
Kate Rusby
Michelle Shocked
Loreena McKennett
Paula Cole
etc etc

I don't think so :wonder:

She was a slightly above average pub singer doing OK cover versions but nothing of note. Then, like Jeff Buckley, she got famous by dying.

Ellie* 09 December 2012 10:35 PM

Pink has talent, she's great live.
I like lana del rey too.

When in the mood for some cheesy pop music i like britney, avril lavigne, girls aloud, rhianna but I can appreciate the different between someone singing along to some meaningless words put together for them, and someone who composes, writes and records their own music. The latter is talent, and seems to get massively overlooked.

DARB 09 December 2012 10:43 PM

I understand that being popular doesn't always equate to having talent, but neither does the fact that someone is not to your personal taste means they are talentless :thumb:
