Bug JDM sti what's it worth

Hello,

Another one of these threads so apologies in advance.

I'm running a 2002 jdm bug sti currently as a second car but barely use it, so may have to sell her after only 6 months.

The car is completely standard, pretty rare I suspect. New set of falcon 452s all around, brembos, xenons, auto intercooler spray, twin scroll turbo etc. interior is in excellent condition, bodywork too considering the age, mainly chips to the edge of the door.

Showing 99,000 on the clock now sure how many are km to be honest.

Don't think it has full service history and the back end grinds sometimes (I think this is a common fault?!).

Car runs spot on and to me anyway is very quick and handles like its on rails especially compared to the wrx wagon I had before.

Anyway trying to be honest as I can really, what's it worth if anything!?

Cheers

Update

Oh yeah and I can't be bothered to break it really, I know the gearbox and engine are probably worth a fair bit from this model.

If its worthless then I'll just keep it I guess, it owes me about 4k.

KAS35RSTI 22 November 2012 01:14 PM

Twin scroll turbo?

99greenwagon 22 November 2012 01:16 PM

are you sure its twin scroll as only the spec c was a twinscroll.if its not a spec c it will be running a vf30 which is single scroll.

MattyB1983 22 November 2012 01:17 PM

Wouldn't be twin scroll as standard on a bug I don't think chap.

seado180 22 November 2012 01:20 PM

Naive but I just assumed it was! So your probably correct ill try and find out... Red line 8k but I guess that's irrelevant in determining?. It's not a spec C.

seado180 22 November 2012 01:22 PM

Thinking about it and googling, it doesn't really drive like a twinscroll as all hell breaks loose at about 3.5k which isn't consistent with the characteristics of a twin scroll. Sorry guys!

that's the value plummeting further then lol

99greenwagon 22 November 2012 01:40 PM

a freind of mine paid 5.5 k for a mint jdm bug sti with genuine 25k on clock with 1 owner from new, full history etc.

seado180 22 November 2012 04:35 PM

Ah ok im looking at a few K lower than that I would guess. Gave Scooby parts a ring and obviously its trade prices based on just describing the car ballpark was around 2.5k for it, does that seem like madness? better of just keeping it and using it rarely?!

KAS35RSTI 22 November 2012 04:38 PM

Ye I'd give you something like that, PM me if interested

seado180 22 November 2012 04:50 PM

Ok cheers, I need to get all the paperwork together to see exactly what ive got service history wise and when it got imported so I can work out what was done in km's etc(all with my dad at the moment) as im sure anyone looking will want to know, don't like to mess people around.

I'll be honest I think only around 3k would tempt me as im not disparate to sell, but i'll have a think anyway as its pretty wasted on my drive!

MattyB1983 22 November 2012 06:42 PM

What colour is it ??

seado180 22 November 2012 07:00 PM

WR Blue

Mr Windscreen 22 November 2012 07:07 PM

How is it only worth 3k??? And how the hell is a classic worth 6k? The values of some of the cars on here is seriously messed up.

seado180 22 November 2012 07:15 PM

I'd gladly hear that it's worth more than 3k! But I guess it's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it

Mr Windscreen 22 November 2012 07:21 PM

True mate, but most jdm bugs in the classified ads are around 5-6k.

seado180 22 November 2012 07:29 PM

I'll be honest I don't think I can deal with the hassele/ worry of selling it privately, thought I'd try selling direct to trade to avoid it, but looks like I'd have to take a big hit to do so... 2.5k ill keep it doesn't cost me much to run as it does very little mileage

johnnybon 22 November 2012 07:30 PM

Been trying to sell mine for a while now only want 4k for it and its got only 3000miles on a new engine just don't think anyone want bug or they don't have any cash I thinking of breaking it but can't be bothered :(

jayallen 22 November 2012 07:35 PM

2.5k? Talk about trying to pull your pants down!

A friend of mine bought a White JDM bug a couple of months ago for 3700, which i thought was cheap.

So 4k with new API built engine isn't deer so don't understand why I still have it
I wouldn't sell it for any less I will just hold on to it :thumb:

seado180 22 November 2012 07:41 PM

They are crazy cheap for what they are, but I guess that's the market. It does feel like trousers and pants down letting it go for 2.5k, pretty depressing!

johnnybon 22 November 2012 07:43 PM

Looks like I'm keeping the bug then :D

Norman Dog 22 November 2012 07:45 PM

It's worth only what someone is prepared to give you for it, I got £2.5k px for my 2003 Blob WRX a month ago.

Yours must surely be worth a bit more being an STi and a JDM model. :wonder:

:wonder: A modified WRX will be more to insure than a stock STi. If you declare the mods, that is. :nono:

seado180 22 November 2012 08:00 PM

It's really hard to value these cars! I was hoping being completely strandard and original would make mine desirable, but yep only worth what someone will pay

Well you make you choices and take your chances but when you are as old as me you don't have to :thumb:

99greenwagon 22 November 2012 09:30 PM
