widest width tyre
there seems to be a difference in opinions on what the maximum tyre width is that can be fitted to a 7.5j rim.i have some 235/40/17 toyo r888's and want to know whether they will be ok on a 7.5" rim.they will just be used for track.can anyone please advise as to whether they will be ok.thanks.

Id say no arf,I'm running 235 on 8.5j wheels and the tyre wall is just about upright so on a 7.5 it would start to slope inwards as the tyres meets the rim which is not good mate.

235/40 R17 should be OK for 7.5J,but for sure speak to the Mags here,he will advise to you for sure

it does say on the toyo site that 235/45/17 will be ok with 7.5" rim but not a 235/40/17.the problem i have is,i have bought a set of wheels which were being sold as an 8" rim.when they have turned up they are a 7.5" rim.i already have the tyres ready to go on them and they wheels are really light which i want.the seller has said he will refund the money back but i was thinking that if the tyres would be safe on the rim then i will keep them.
Problem is with R888 they have stiff sidewall Jura |
