ScoobyClinic 330mm 6pot replacement parts

Hi all,

I have a set of the old Scoobyclinic 330mm 6pots on the front of my car - which were fitted when I bought it. I am in need of replacement pads, and rotors too but not as urgent ;-)

Speaking to ScoobyClinic they no longer supply these brakes, and do not stock any parts, and gave me no clues on where to look. These were a few grand to buy and for SC to simply stop supporting customers with them is a very poor service IMO :brickwall

Does anyone else have these? or know where to get the pads I need?

I really need help here :notworthy

Alwyn at AS Performance is always helpful. I'm sure he'll fix you up. alternatively Ian Godney at Godspeed Brakes should be able to make something up to fit.

TonyB300 13 November 2012 10:33 PM

Thanks Ian,

Dropped ASP a mail, and have spoken to Ian@GodSpeed and it is not looking good. Any other ideas? Surely I am not the only one with these brakes?

Godspeed Brakes 14 November 2012 07:31 AM

Hi Tony
No , as expected none of the pad suppliers stock that shape pad which is specific to that caliper only , the only way we can do it is to have you old pads , send them off to have new material bonded onto them
Cheers Ian

I’ll try and respond to the more salient points of your post in the order they appear….

We have replacement pads in stock, £164+VAT. I’m surprised whoever you spoke to here didn’t pass this information on.

Phew, glad it’s not urgent because we haven’t got any of them. All enquiries of that nature we usually pass on to Godspeed, I’m surprised whoever you spoke to here didn’t pass this information on.

Can’t argue with that.

See my earlier point regarding pads.

Really? It was 5 and a half years ago to be fair.

See my earlier point regarding pads. They’re here on the shelf and the price is £164+VAT. I’ll even sort you a bit of discount if, in return, you promise to give me a cuddle….it’s bloomin’ cold up here at this time of year and the Gaffer shouts at me whenever I put the heating on! :D

So I gave a call to SC today following seeing the above, and it appears that there was a little mis-communication when I originally enquired on parts. However I have to say that after a while having a good laugh on the phone; Danny is a true Gent and has sorted my issue. I will have new pads on my door step tomorrow just in time for some track action at weekend. I was feeling really bad as these brakes are awesome and I was actually considering pulling these off and getting something else.

Danny; I expect it will scare the sh!t out of you when I do arrive for an unannounced visit and deliver that cuddle without warning - you asked for it remember ;-)

James: 1) EBC YellowStuff, 2) One Off design - so no cross compatibility from what I have found, 3) GodSpeed have drawings and will make to order, 4) Give SC a call.

DannyBoy007 16 November 2012 12:19 PM

I had these on my Old Type R,

I found the standard disc very poor, they warped with less than 3000 road miles.

I took them down to Ian at Godspeed and had him make replacements. once these were fitted with bluestuff pads the brakes were awesome.

I had to change the pads and purchased a set from Scoobyclinic for around £210 for a set of EBC yellowstuff pads, I checked the part numbers on EBC directs website after receiving the pads and found these could be had for £124

The part number for EBC is DP4047R or what I did was a have a set of blue stuff made up when they asked for tester which is DP5047R

TonyB300 17 November 2012 12:01 AM

Fitted the EBC YellowStuffs today and EBC have made the pad back plate smaller than the original:
http://i1142.photobucket.com/albums/...6_232446-1.jpg

As you can see it did not sit right in the runners, note the gap at the top:
http://i1142.photobucket.com/albums/...6_232437-1.jpg

My first install resulted in the pad slipping out of the calliper:
http://i1142.photobucket.com/albums/...6_232448-1.jpg

A little modification to the callipers pad guides and they are in, just in time too as the originals were a whisker off running metal on metal. I think I will be sending my original back plates to be relined. I may get a friend to machine me an extra pair of back plates up too so I can rotate them. Not sure how much a custom relining is gonna cost.

Anyone else found this? Could it be an odd set, or that I have odd callipers?

bigfootjim76 17 November 2012 02:31 PM

starting to worry now lol, i have what looks like blue stuff in mine will have a look next week when im freed up from work.

that looks a bloodly big gap as you say?

stockcar 18 November 2012 10:36 AM

whatever the reasons that IS NOT correct fitment wise.....................

alyn

Danny_P 18 November 2012 10:52 AM

What's the fitment like on the other set of pads Tony?

Can't do much until I'm back at work tomorrow but I'll definitely follow it up for you in the morning. :)

TonyB300 18 November 2012 10:26 PM

I emailed you further details same time as posting the above Danny, will be waiting for you in the morning ;-)

Danny_P 19 November 2012 09:27 AM

You have email Sir :)

bigfootjim76 30 January 2013 06:10 PM

did this get sorted as ive had the caplier off to do some work and will need pads soon?

tony did the pad fit in the end?

TonyB300 31 January 2013 10:37 PM

I found out that I have an early production run of the calipers, and they changed the design some point after - hence the pad fitment not being correct. I have modified the seats to accept the off the shelf pads which is not ideal but is safe.

I suggest you get some pads ordered early, before you need then, in case of issues!

bigfootjim76 02 February 2013 12:17 AM

thanks for the update tony

TonyB300 27 July 2013 11:30 AM

I am now in need of new discs, one has cracked. Anyone any new experience on getting replacements. The only place I know supplying is GodSpeed - these are well in excess of £500 a pair, I am considering swapping the kit out for another.

DannyBoy007 27 July 2013 06:24 PM

Paid £295 from godspeed a couple of years back, Can't believe they have gone up that much

They haven't gone up that much , he speaks with fork tongue :lol1:

We offer replacement rotors to fit your original bells for £349.50 a pair , you might have been quoted £500 ish if you wanted discs and bells

Cheers Ian

TonyB300 27 July 2013 11:16 PM

Sorry Ian, I meant no offence :)

Yes, I need new bells also, a new fitting kit may suffice but I would not be happy with them. Also the pad fitment issue above with a worry on future stocks is putting me off investing more into the kit. I would prefer to spend a little more now and have some confidence in an easy next service.

TonyB300 15 August 2013 10:37 PM

I decided to complete a little upgrade to AP 6pot 362mm brakes. These got me though MOT and I am quite liking them. On the downside my 17" track wheels will no longer fit. I need to decide what to do with the 330mm setup..
