A 3-port has, er, 3 ports:

"NC" (normally closed): left to VTA (pref pointing downwards)
"NO" (normally open): goes to turbo compressor cover's bleed nipple.
"COM" (common): goes to wastegate actutor's input nipple

You don't have to worry about any restrictor pill when you map in a 3 port (which you will have to do).

Just make sure any "bled air return" port on the airbox is plugged airtight e.g. with a suitable sized screw, etc, before mapping. Unless of course you're gonna opt for a naked cone filter.

If you are using the std denso subaru oe units, they are dead easy to fit : top port goes direct to your compressor outlet on your turbo. Middle port goes direct to the actuator & the bottom one connects to where your bottom hose is currently on you 2 port solenoid( inlet tract).
It is advisable to have your car mapped rather than just bolt one on, as they can give better control over the boost when mapped in correctly.
