5 also suffers with it
As mentioned, rust seems to be the killer on these cars and the engines are hardly "chocolate". The standard rods can safely take 380bhp, some say 400bhp but if "rod jobbed" then 550bhp is more than a achievable. I can quite honestly say i dont find the day to day running of an EVO any different to when i had my Newage STI, similar fuel consumption and any oil changes i carry out myself.....I do prefer it tho, including the more exclusivity of the car. Unlike many EVO owners, im not a Subaru "Hater" ;) |
bought a white evo 6 on thursday , very please with it , has a few mods running around 380bhp , will post pics up later , suprised how similare they are to the subaru
thanks for advice |
Mine looked lovely but rotten underneath and the boot floor was rotten, servicing was more too

I know they have a problem with rot , but so do some newage subaru's i have seen aswell, had the evo up on the lift to check before i bought it , and it has no rot rust , as has only been in the uk since 2010 and was under selaed straight away |
good reliable cars imo

I got lucky with my EVO 5.....Imported new by Toyota UK back in 1998, undersealed and waxoiled from new, covered 29k and had a 1000 mile old EVO 6 RS engine fitted at 18k after the previous owner popped the engine messing with the boost controller.....Great cars no matter what you read on here.
|
Mine was a UK supplied car so it had been here since 1999, so that cant of helped the rot. A fresh jap should be okay.
