Is the dream over

Hi im 24 old have always been named driver on policy. Had my liscence for 6 years wanting a 2.0 wrx nd to insure is a nightmare willing to pay up to 1800£. Any help would be great. Thanks. Charlie

Does it have to be a 2.0WRX?
You could check out rates on a 2.0 Sport / R

If fuel isn't an issue - I understand the Legacy 3.0 B is a cheaper option than an Impreza on the count that Legacys don't get stolen anywhere near as much - non turbo but has the performance of a turbo

Named driver? Does that mean you don't have any No Claims Bonus? If so, good luck on getting insured on any Subaru

You'll need time, patience and a full wallet.

The specialists (although I am sure one of the other Scoobynet Insurance traders will correct me if I am wrong) will require you to be age 25 or over and hold NCB in your own name and quite probably have experience of an Impreza or similar car. I'm afraid that my company cannot help you.

Why a named driver for so long out of interest?

Hi charlie,

Ive mentioned this a few times on here.

I paid £1300 for my wagon import and insurance companies wanted the same again.

I insure a wrx as a second car. They gave me 4 years ncb even thou i have full. As many mods as posible. I pay £200 tpf&t. If it was my main car i would pay £225 Fully comp

Rally insurance. Join a motor club (£10) and you can use your vehicle to travel to and from the events and for social and domestic use only.

Not to work

If you're going to use one of these loopholes for cheaper quote's then I suggest to the OP you stick to the precise terms. Otherwise you're just as bad as all the knobs out there who have their parents/siblings insure their car for them to just pay a little as a named driver - i.e. insurance fraud.

You do know you need a MSA licence for rally insurance don't you?

tez7431 05 July 2012 07:25 PM

I use my car to do autotests and pct, 12 car rallies and night rallies.

Bacically to enter these events, you need an MOT. for this you will also need tax and insurance if its between two locations. Thats why its so much cheaper. I am limited to 5000 miles PA.

As mentioned. You can not use it to travel to work.

The insurance is the same as normal insurance.

I have all the rights as any insured vehicle.

I just pay a lot less.

No you dont need a MSA log book. But my mate insures his WRX log booked rally car for £150 fully comp. Thats a real bargain.

Moley 05 July 2012 07:30 PM

I didn't mention a MSA log book, i said MSA licence.

Well sell these polices, and they are for competition cars ONLY.

tez7431 05 July 2012 07:34 PM

The insurance company wanted just a copy of my motor club license. But I also included a photo copy of my MSA license which isnt required for the events i do other than stage rallies.

Moley 05 July 2012 07:37 PM

Be careful what you advise people, that policy won't suit 99% of members on here.

You have to have that MSA licence, and it has to be a competition car.

tez7431 05 July 2012 07:39 PM

Fair play, and thats what i do with mine.

Im just pointing out other ways to insure your vehicle.

Its upto the buyer to check out the policy wording.
