Whats the highest credit card limit you can get?

Okay, bit of an open ended question, but has anyone a limit in the 10-15k region on a 0% purchases credit card?

(or any sort of CC)

zip106 04 July 2012 09:27 PM

Not a 0% rate, but we have a £15k limit on a Lloyds cc.
Don't actually know how it came to be that much, but we've had the card for at least 10 years.

bustaMOVEs 04 July 2012 09:32 PM

Lloydstsb, mine went upto £16k bit by bit. Had to go online and lower it as it was too tempting all the time, took it to about £12k at the time.
Payment made ontime help without missing payments. I have a good record of that.
Nothing to be proud of though as they are scammers, they just want you to get in dept.
All cleared now though.
My balance is about £400. Lol
A word of advise, avoid cc they are just addictive, especially when you have a Subaru, oh I'll pay later attitude.

pimmo2000 04 July 2012 10:02 PM

My HSBC one is at 9k now, it's completely empty and for some reason they keep increasing it ..

RobsyUK 04 July 2012 10:50 PM

Barclays gave me £17k last month! 0% on balance transfers for 18months. And it took less then 4mins to be approved on their site...
And this is how stupid they are...

You can only make one payment a month and you can not use more then 3 different cards to pay... Fecking stupid if u ask me

what would scooby do 04 July 2012 11:03 PM

Unlimited if you are a high net worth individual..

legb4rsk 05 July 2012 02:39 AM

I remember American Express had an unlimited charge card.
My local Off License had a guy turn up with one & the shopkeeper had never seen one before because it was black & gold (this was in the days before fancy coloured cards) so he called up Amex to check.
They gave him a huge bol*ocking for even questioning the holder!

urban 05 July 2012 09:25 AM

I've a 19K limit on my master card.

dibbleyuk 05 July 2012 10:32 AM

£650 on my Natwest credit card lol Dont want any more! My business credit card just keeps going up and up!

What is this, a wealth fashion parade?

Why don't you just publish an SN Rich List

lordharding 05 July 2012 11:33 AM

Think my rbs cards are now 18k
Which is irrelevant when I have never paid a penny interest in 28 years :D

Quite scary you could go on a massive bender abroad and pay back just a few hundred if you had a mid life crises :D

That would be fun :D

I have 3 cards.

2 of which are 10K+ and I bounce the outstanding balance between the two every couple of years.

We want a conservatory and the one we want is £15K from start to finish. I could probably increase one of the cards to £15K but would need to get the balance down to below £10K before needing to move it to the other card. I think as long as you are strict with yourself and maintain the payments there is no other way to borrow money with no interest rate.

I have a 3rd card mostly used for my hobbies (trains, RC, 1:1 car etc) which I keep at £1000. Could be more but I know I'd just use it.

I know one person going bankrupt who owes £40K on cards and a work colleague ex-Mrs is apparently already bankrupt and managed to get over the £100K mark on cards - apparently anyway.

kingofturds 05 July 2012 12:29 PM

Max out every card you can get to the tune of £150k, withdraw all the money and stash it somewhere safe, go bankrupt. Profit!!

This is so true. I know a few career employed/faux disability who have got cards, maxed them, then declare themselves bankrupt. Can't pay it back or £2 a week, leave it a year or so then reapply. Stunningly, they sometimes get accepted and off they go again. Maybe fiddle with the addresses a bit.

Can always tell because Christmas for the kids is either awesome or sh1te :)

Credit limits on credit cards dont impress me, if so inclined anyone can con them into giving you a higher limit.

If you ear well, pay all your bills and buy the odd thing on credit you can soon get a pretty good credit limit, inflate what you says you are earning and apply for several, can soon build up a nice portfolio of cards.

boxst 05 July 2012 02:19 PM

My (MBNA) credit card has a £19K limit. Nothing to do with being rich, I have just had one for years and years (I really should change it) and they just put it up £1K here and there.

I have never got even close (and wouldn't want to) to that limit.

I made three online payments to my Barclaycard last month.

Chip 07 July 2012 01:36 PM

Got 3 cards with a total of over £30k credit.
Only use the one though which is paid off in full each month.

Edit* Sorry can only use 2 different cards in a 30 day period. And 3 payments a month. As many as you like over the phone but only 1 payment in 24hrs!

Can only hope their Fixed rates ruin them... Shunts!

mitchster26 07 July 2012 05:08 PM

I used have a 11k limit, but the highest limit i can get now is £1150
