Where to start on more BHP to stock WRX???help please
Hi guys i have a 1994 impreza wrx GC 8 and want to get some more power out of it but i know these cars can be sensitive to modding if not done with correct mods / in correct order.
as in title my engine in standard apart from cat back blitz s/s exhaust what should i upgrade first and what makes / brands are suited best to the car / performance??? Many Thanks Kev |
Upgrade the brakes.
I had a 93wrx with a MBC that had 270bhp which was ok for me but it all depends on how much you have to spend, how much power you want etc. I was looking at getting 300bhp from my 93wrx but decided that it was easier to get a better starting point so bought a classic STI. |
Thanks for reply not really thought about what power just want a bit more really.........
Obviously dont want to spend a fortune on it as it's a 1994 car at the end of the day, just fancy some extra horses.... |
Servicing is first!
Upgrading brakes second! Then mild upgrades, panel filter, decat diwnpipe, and a proper esl remap via an external circuit board should net a responsive running correctly and fuelling correctly 280-290 bhp which will feel pretty good, then just concentrate on other things like getting it to handle like you want etc |
Thanks Davey that's great, handling wise is fine it has adjustable shocks and springs already fitted and i will do the brakes whats the best way to upgraded them?? 4 pot cal and bigger discs???
whats the best panel filter to have in this car?? and is there any reason why not induction kit??? sorry for the noob questions but impreza modding is new stuff to me!!!! most people with other makes of cars fit induction kits i know i used to before getting this one lol |
4 pots are probably your best bet, look at godspeedbrakes they do good deals on the whole lot as buying second hand can be dodgy lots of seized pistons!
I had a hks panel filter was very goid, induction kits are a bit if a no no as impreza engine bays get very very hot, an induction kit will suck in hot air and thats not a good thing! |
If you do fit 4 pots make sure the wheels fit over them :)
|
cool thanks for that i will have a look.
True didnt think of the induction kit like that before!!!! how come i have what looks like 2 car boxes on the induction standard set up?? i have the pipe which comes across in to one box then pipe goes into air flow meter then into air box?? also there doesnt seem to be any cold air feed to the air box, should i fit one myself?? |

One is a resonator :) standard airbox has a feed in the drivers side wheel area (a schnorkel)

May as well it's a decent enough system.
|
get de-cat,panel filter walbro pump and 440 injectors then get esl and get it mapped.slanty intercooler can be limiting factor so either front mount or do newage wrx conversion.
|
Thanks Marcevs, 440 injectors were would i get them and what car are they from.........is it new age scoob??
|
early sti mate i think v1 to v4 fit straight in.
