Flocked parts. How long does the flocking last??
As above I`m considering getting a flocked dash, but how long is it expected to last??
If its a few years then fair enough, but if its less then I may look into covering the dash in something else. Anyone know how long it lasts, or anything else you can cover the dash in?? |
mine has a few marks on now after 6 months, looking for a touch up or something to make it look better.
looks awful if its marked or rubbed off wiley |
My gauge pod was done 2 years ago and still looks good. I guess it depends how much wear the parts will get. A flocked steering wheel probably won't last more than a few weeks.

No reason it should not last as long as it has been prepared properly and an industrial electrostatic machine has been used to apply the flock.

From your experience how durable is it? I mean I'm not expecting it to last forever, but what's it like to live with, and clean etc etc. I don't know of anyone around by me who has had it done, or got some, so after as much info as I can. |

just fitted my flocked dash didn't even come into my mind about how long it would last lol
what a bitch to fit Attachment 56755 Attachment 56756 |
I've never had any issue with it not lasting. I think it depends how you keep it clean. You should be able to brush it as long as its a soft brush.
Per facelift are the most awkward to change the rest are actually very easy. Feel free to pm me your number if you want a chat about it. |

But I rarely clean my car, so a soft brush to wipe and dirt/dust off is fine with me. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, may be ripping my dash apart soon then lol. Just what to do with the heater control surround and vents, carbon dipped, or something more funky??? |

As for ripping a dashboard apart I did this to my old Vectra.
From this, manual aircon. Attachment 56751 Via this. Attachment 56752 To this, electronic climate control. Attachment 56753 Attachment 56754 |
My dash top is fine, the other bits such as the centre console I've had about a year and bits are starting to lift/peel off already:(
|
Tbh I'd only want the top done.
|
How hard is it to get pre facelift dash out ?
|
have you thought about other materials such as leather faux, leather, wrap it it vinyl carbon or otherwise. im thinking of wrapping my centre console in gloss black vinyl, done the carbon thing already lol time to move on.

Alcantera and stitching is the only way to go IMO
