my knob is tatty and worn..
it's a 5 speed and the actual knob and the soft material on the gear stick has seen better days. is it easy to swap out those bits?

if you snap the shaft you will be in a world of trouble.
|
its an easy repair mate, much easier than mending a broken gusset....
|
Hahaha im glad my knob is still going strong lol
|
Very easy mate, gear knob is threaded and the gear stick surround is held on with little holes in the rubber base that go on little plastic pegs under the plastic trim, unscrew the plastic trim screws and slightly lift to push the down and off the pegs:thumb:

will these 2 bits be what i'm after, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Su...item2567d48460, not after anything flash, just something that should look OEM (car is at the shop so i can't go down and check what mine looks like!)
and i'm assuming the gaiter is the leathery bit i'm needing http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUBARU-IMP...item4159d73e8e too? |

might wait till its back from the shop on tuesday to see what the original is like, before making any rash purchases..

I used to have a red/silver Momo knob and red gaiter on mine.
The gaiter was a cheapy from the local car-shop, cost all of £7.50. It was slightly short, so I unpicked the bottom stiching and fitted it by boring holes, fitting it over the pegs on the plastic trim and replacing the plastic washers with bits of styrene sheet, from a model shop, welded in place with a solvent called plastic-weld. That plastic trim prodriverules mentioned? undo two screws at rtear and lift it. If a centre glove box is fitted, screws are under covers at front of g/b. Still got the red gaiter but with a standard 6-speed knob now. |
