blue smoke on start up?

Just started the scooby this morning ance noticed blue smoke but it stinks of fuel, is this just unburnt fuel?

tubbytommy 15 April 2012 10:53 AM

Could be or turbo :(

Gava 15 April 2012 10:57 AM

doubt it turbo, it was a brand new vf48 and its only done about 600 miles

RobsyUK 15 April 2012 12:29 PM

Could it be old oil burning out of the turbo ....running in ?

Gava 15 April 2012 12:38 PM

maybe she been sitting a while doing nothing bless her

What power is your vf48 running mate?

chopperman 15 April 2012 01:30 PM

Could be a leaky injector. Dripping some fuel into the cylinder after the engines turned off causing it to be over rich on start up.

Mine stinks or unburnt fuel on a cold start, but it is fine once the cat warms up.

The cat is there to catalyse the unburned fuel (reduce Hydrocarbon emissions) so while cold and running on enrichment it is normal to get this smell.

turbo is fine checked that, i have no cats and its only on the start up after ita running its fine and it made 355bhp mate but found a split in my intake pipe so need to sort that and give it back to duncan to run again
