REMAPPING

Hi guys think i need the scooby mapping, its been decatted and the eml light is on also, anyone recommend a good mapper in yorkshire, cheers

Bar 05 April 2012 09:13 AM

You will defo need it remapped! In the mean time drive it off-boost or you will cause all matter of potentially nasty complications, what is your most local city? I assume its a Version 6 you are driving?

v6mick 05 April 2012 09:16 AM

I live in bradford and its a 2001 uk 300

Bar 05 April 2012 09:18 AM

Just to clarify...was it decatted and remapped before you bought it..and now the EML light has just come on? Or did you decat it?

v6mick 05 April 2012 09:19 AM

It was decatted before i bought it an dont think its been remapped, the light came on whilst i was driving

Bar 05 April 2012 09:24 AM

Wow...ok.. Yeah go get it remapped! Hopefully no damage will have been caused, the 2.0l's are a bit more robust then the 2.5s thankfully so fingers crossed its not an expensive one for you!

ScoobyClinic is only 67 miles from you, maybe give them a shout and get booked in. 01246 590807

Simon @ JGM trained Neil from ScoobyWorks who did my car, I can vouch he is good also.

Sorry to be picky but I didnt train Neil.

I used to do all their mapping and now occasionally do some mapping their or use their dyno.

MattyB1983 05 April 2012 12:04 PM

Paul at ZEN, he uses RCM's dyno occasionally.

From my limited knowledge, it would cause boost spikes & over boosting which can lead to where the fuel / Air mixture isn't compensated for the lack of back pressure, thus the car runs lean (less fuel to air ratio). Which in terms of the way the engine runs it may lead to det/knock which is bad :nono:...... melted piston, ringland failure, burnt valves, piston slap, ...........

Rob

ps - sorry to the technical guys for my layman terms :Whatever_

will cope with a de-cat without destroying itself as the piddly TD04 turbo does not flow a lot of air.

It will throw a P0420 CEL as the cat is missing but the DENSO ECU will simply compensate and change fueling and ignition so there will be no improvement in power but a small increase in low down grunt.

RE- Mapping will improve BHP and Torque :)

You will fail a MOT as the cats are missing though

That was my thread, it's been deleted now. The garage I got it from is checking the car tomorrow and hopefully it's not too serious!?

Defo get it mapped if it has a decat. I learned tha hard way :(

L-i-am 06 April 2012 12:29 AM

so do people not bother decating then due to mot ? because if you decat then remap surely when you put the cat back on for mot will it still run lean?
