Turbo timer fitted but....
 

Hi all,

I've just had a HKS turbo timer fitted to my 2003 Blobeye WRX, seems to work fine however while the turbo timer is running and the keys are in my hand I can't seem to lock the doors until it's finished it's cycle. Kind of defies the object of a turbo timer!

I've had a look through all my paperwork and looks like I have a factory fitted Thatcham Category one Alarm\Immobiliser, Impreza Evaluation Number - TC2-1265\1002.

Any of you experts out there suggest anything that can rectify such a problem?

mines the same, only fitted it as it was free and i use it to keep ignition on without keys while i wash it or to warm it in frozen mornings without keys inside.

Yeah mine have all been the same too. Never bothered me but see your point lol. It would involve tapping into the thatcham alarm system which not a lot of people will do for you lol. I have found it greatly difficult to get anyone to look at immobiliser issues :nono:

Mine`s the same but I don`t use it anymore, they`re a waste of time really.

Took mine off for exactly the same reason, however i did find a cheaky little way round it.
You can go into the sigma and set it to auto arm, so i used to lock mine with the key in the door, then had the alarm set to auto arm which it would do after about a minute , i got a little paranoid though, and ripped the bugger out:thumb:

After a little playing around, and some funny looks of my neighbours I think I've manage a way around locking my doors! I just use the central locking button on the drivers door for the passenger and rear doors then use my key to lock the drivers door. Only down side is the alarm isn't active, but at least all my doors are locked!

My advice is remove it , as you said , it seems a little pointless if you have to stand there to wait for it to finish. You might aswell sit there for 30 secs yourself or plan your route and keep off the boost for the last leg.

I tend to just drive off boost for the last leg of journey as mentioned before, but leave it set on 30 seconds just for good measure. By the time I've gathered my bits and got to the door it's done anyway.
If nothing else they save wasting good gauge space on a volt meter.

Remove and add to the nearest bin and your problem will be gone :thumb:

As above remove this and you will be OK,Turbo timer can cause some serious security problems(like after TT(turbo timer) stop counting and your doors will be unlocked,after you are lock the car and you are at home).Several threads are about the turbo timers where cause some problems and mainly turbo timers can disarm your alarm,in my view not worth

I found a link on here that someone had posted about the sigma alarm and all the settings, trying to find it again now bud, but tbh like everyone else says, their ****e:thumb:

Mine works great with the clifford alarm. Great for de-icing car or cooling it down in the summer.

If you want to de-ice the car you would use an alarm with remote start not a turbo timer.

Cooling it down in the summer you don't need a turbo timer - suggest have a look at the various threads elsewhere on here. General consensus is the engine design on the later classics and all new ages negates the need for a turbo timer, hence why most people consign them to the best place for em - bin :)
