VF34 or SC38 18G?

I'm looking for around 350-380bhp so ruled out the TD05 but there doesn't seem to be many VF34's kicking about on the used market at the mo so now looking down the new market.

Anyone had both and can compare or just any help would be good.

Cheers

I've got a 34 you could buy mate,5K miles with forge actuator in VGC,£500 delivered
It made 354/340 on v-power

Hi

Ive got sc38 did have vf35 on 2.0l newage. main diff is top end. Wouldnt say there is much in spool betwwen the two but once its spooling definately better. Pulls stronger and doesnt run out off puff as early, but i wouldnt mind a sc42 now!

I'm confused, is the SC36 better than a VF34? I thought it was pretty much the same as the TD05?

Pridriverules: I'll drop you a pm.

I'd have to say given it's irregular results in the past no it is not better, the 34 is a strong and reliable turbo which is proven with regular goods results.

Look forward to hearing from you mate.

Have a read back through the billet turbo thread Tidgy,it has had very up and down results.

Agreed on VF34,best turbo which we are tried and 350bhp is achievable with VF34.

if the vf34 seems to make 350 comfortably how comes my vf48 only made 355?

stedee 29 March 2012 10:39 AM

a tdo5-18g is a good performer for the money, havent heard a bad thing about the vf34 either. the sc36/38 billet is a good turbo but aint cheap compared to the 34/18g

L.J.F 29 March 2012 10:42 AM

Because it is better suited to the 2.5 engine and that's where it gets better results mate.

Get a 20% meth map done like I had on my old car;)

There is a new SC38 available with a ball bearing core which should do high 300`s and possibly over 400 with superiour spool on the right car,i previousley had one of harvey smith`s ported 18g turbo`s which made 385bhp at 1.5bar on vpower on my car.;)
