Thats well nice mate! One clean classic

Scoobdogg 19 March 2012 05:19 AM

How difficult was it to do? Did you carry the work out yourself? Very nice bay you have there looks good!

chrispy200+ 19 March 2012 07:53 AM

Looks good, who did the pipework, like the bracket off the alternator to keep the pipe in place, just about to do the same to mine

Suberman 19 March 2012 08:21 AM

Wasn't your RA running Compomotive wheels and totally bare without bodykit or spoiler? Did you add these on recently? :wonder:

mr.sheen 19 March 2012 08:38 AM

Thanks... yes all done myself over a week end apart fron painting the alternator. All needed in my case was a length of 12mm and 8mm coolant hose to move the coolant reservoir. other stuff like parallel fuel rails already done and I had another manifold modified and painted ready to go on. All hoses and pipework bought from ASH (auto silicone hoses) :)

what do you do to re mount the aternator , do you have to make a bracket? and do you need a different belt etc?

MarkC 20 March 2012 08:29 PM

i used an alloy bracket off a car with aircon, drilled it and stuck a bolt through it, fabricated a foot for an adjuster and mounted the alternator on the other side of the bracket upside down. the belt is far longer than standard and needed a tdi golf timing belt idler pulley bolted to the front of the alternator bracket to divert the belt away from the i/c pipe... works fine :)

+1

I've got a spare Ph 1.5 manifold that I'm planning on doing the same with.

Higher res pics the better if you have more, that you're willing to share.

chrispy200+ 20 March 2012 10:41 PM

I've got a bracket that I chopped up ready to use to convert for the mod before I bought the Carl davey kit, it's yours if you want it Maggs although it's the same colour green as my manifold and wheels if you remember them
