Anyone?

Harnesses?
Did your old lights have wires hanging off?

I can't think that they would, they are normally one plug?

I`m pretty sure they did :wonder: There was the plastic `cup` and wires with plug in connectors.....I think :lol1: Maybe I should look and see if I can use what I have then.

I would like to do this with my blob as well. As i never fitted the HID kit i dont know whats ment to be there and whats not?

There is the HID box with two cables attached but i dont know what i need to swap it back to normal. :lol1:

Usually, on a modern car, there is ONE multi-way plug from car loom to light.

Have a look and see if it is still there, maybe taped up, on the end of the HID wiring.

Then all you need to do is remove the HID wiring, the link from the battery, if present, and plug the car's plug back onto the headlight.

SHOULD be simple enough.......

Yeah, the multi-way plug will still be there but I`m not sure if I`ve got anything to plug into it after removing the HID`s. I`ll look tomorrow if it`s still light when I get the car back :thumb:

Yup, once again, you were right and I was having a blonde / bald moment :lol1: Sorted now but what a b1tch just to change 2 bloody bulbs

alcazar 23 February 2012 05:31 PM

Modern cars are made so we can't easily work on them: more money for the dealer...they think.

Our Xantia has had a front foglight bulb out for EIGHT years.
I refuse to pay someone to take the bumper off to change it:rolleyes:

ScoobySteve69 23 February 2012 08:59 PM

TBH, it would have been easier to take the headlights out....oh and those Halfords Ultra Brilliance....not bad :thumb: At least it`ll pass the retest MOT :D

ScoobySteve69 24 February 2012 11:16 AM

Strange thing. I went for the retest and he said the beam pattern from the drivers headlight isn`t quite right. He showed me on the wall and it didn`t look quite right :wonder: He said it`s a pass...just, but it won`t give me a lot of light on that side. He said maybe I put the bulb in upside down :cuckoo: Even if that was possible, it wouldn`t affect the beam...would it! Last year there was no problem but I`ve since bought these lights from here. Anyone got any ideas what may be up with it?

scoobydog63 24 February 2012 12:00 PM

Ive done that before on my Mrs car, put the bulb upside down and it did effect the beam pattern. I didnt know you could put a bulb in upside down until it went for its MOT.

But they`ll only go in one way. They are round with a flat / straight bit to fit a specific way :wonder:

Similar to this...

Think mine might of had a notch either side so it was possible.

ScoobySteve69 24 February 2012 12:34 PM

Ffs, don`t say that, it was a bloody nightmare to fit them. Be less hassle taking the lights out :lol1: Saying that, I did try both ways cos I couldn`t see which way they went.

alcazar 24 February 2012 02:33 PM

It IS possible that the bulb is either wrong way round, or fitted badly: slightly at a slant.

And even a mm difference in filament placing will cause the beam focus to be poor.

Never mind, headlight removal is always easier second time round. :D

I can now change a bulb in our Xantia in under 15 minutes, and around the same in a classic Scoob, headlight out.

ScoobySteve69 24 February 2012 04:50 PM

Well I did notice that the bulbs are a bit loose. The retaining clip doesn`t seem to hold them very tight at all!!!

I`ve had the headlights out at least 3 times now, it`s a doddle :lol1:

alcazar 24 February 2012 09:04 PM

Yeah, it gets so you become blase.
