What model for??
for sti9 jdm motor running with v4 type r heads.has to be quick spooling.
Vf35 spools well on my blob. TD05 18G would be similar or one of the sc range?
as above 18g would be nice
Vf 34
i already have a vf48!
@1.5bar making 338/316 on 440s.
vf34 :)
Sc36.
Sc38
VF34
VF34,SC36 or SC38 will be very nice on yours,VF35 with 20% methanol can make too 350bhp+

Jura its a little frustrating as i know the vf48 produces much more power and torque on the 2.5. |

I said this before,VF34 will be mine choice from start and VF48 is really not for 2.0L,in my view too laggy without the AVCS
Jura some results on a vf34 dont achieve this. |
I agree with Jura that's good advice there, i have just purchased a vf34 with supporting mods, just waiting to get it fitted. I also looked at vf35's but this came up and the vf34 is a bit rarer and slightly quicker spooling I believe. I also looked at td05 18g and 20g but I thought these would be a bit laggy on my 2 litre.
I'm hoping to make 300-350bhp, the choice is yours but listen to these guys they know their stuff . |
The 35 spoils quicker than the 34 but 34 has more top end afaik. I would go for the 34 but if you want a bit more the 18g

it still works well and isnt too laggy but just want another 20bhp and 30-40lbft.
some results on a vf34 dont achieve this. If you are looking for similar turbo to VF34 with better spool up,solution will be SC36 or SC38,but think SC36 will be good option, just find used one for good price is more rarer than VF34. Mine first turbo which make 350bhp(estimated) has been VF34,great turbo and really i recommend everyone, never tried SC36 and don't know how it perform on classic, but from report is great like on classic and newage too Jura |
I've got the 18g btw ,its an awesome little turbo , not laggy on my 2l but I've got the short ratio box
Ive had a vf35 and was quite impressed, are there any real differences from the vf34 and 35 apart from the actuator?

Rather than spec something too small and struggle to get there, buy yourself an SC42 roller bearing Billet. In my experience they spool like a VF turbo, but with 420bhp potential and your STi motor will handle that all day long.

thanks martyn, but maybe that is a little too much, tbh,im looking for something in between,i ave 338/316.
desired target would be 360bhp/340-350lbft. which is the cheapest and best turbo to achieve this?(without underspeccing as i dont think a vf34/35 is any better than my current vf48. sc42 sounds extremely nice but dont want to go that far...........:Suspiciou. i think this could be putting a little too much risk and strain on things.:) |
i personally do not think a vf34/35 is a step forward from what i already have.
Twin scroll set up with a VF36/37, made 356/360 quite happily on mine. Not sure if thats an option, just an idea. :)
20g! Little bit of lag but you'll just adjust your driving style, plus, with the close gears of a Type R you probably won't even notice :)
I'd go for the SC42 as Martyn suggested but that's just me :D |
18G would be a good turbo, quick spool
depends how much you want to spend aswell, the sc range are good turbo`s but they dont come cheap, the 18g does come cheap thats why i went for it, outspools the 20g and gives better midrange, should give 360-380, if you dont like it , i`m sure you would love it though, sell it and get something else
Sc36
