Blanking Plug Cylinder 3 Hex Size?

Hi all does anyone know the size of allen key i need to remove this for a temp gauge?

alcazar 13 January 2012 01:54 PM

Yes, it's an 8mm Allen key....but it needs to be a LONG one and DECENT QUALITY.

I can't stress this last enough.

Mine was £8 for ONE Allen key.

Make sure you clean the area around the oil gallery plug before you remove it - you dont want any shat dropping down the oil gallery.

mine was stiff as fook and a real bitch to get out. You defo need a high quality long allen key and plenty of leverage, i learned the hard way by snapping my first key off in the plug (at least i didn't round it off.)

I remember doing mine, the Allen key was TWISTED about 30 degrees before the plug cracked out....but when I looked at the key afterwards, it had sprung back:eek:

I've got a 8mm in socket form so i can give it a good crank

i did mine with a socket type wasnt too bad just a pain to get back in and even more of a pain to fit a banjo there
