CDB what heads to use

Hi Guys

I am doing a stroker build with a CDB in my spare time off from offshore, just want some advice on heads to use, will my V6 heads be good to bolt straight on or do I need to use different heads ??

What power are you looking for and what fuel will you be using? The heads will bolt on no problem, but you need to know what compresion you want to run and work the build spec out from there.

Cheers for the info mate

Yea I understand that mate, I am lookin at 400bhp with suporting mods just on V power its a classic so 400 with simtec and decent turbo, injector, fpr, fuel rails, 6 speed gearbox and cosworth stroker 2.1 should be a bloody fast car..

This will be a long term thing, I do 4 weeks on, 4 off from work, so plenty of spare time and cash to do it.

v3 sti heads are the more sought after ones,.

banny sti 11 January 2012 02:53 PM

Would go for a set of sti5/6 or P1 heads for that year of car

Thanks for all the info lads

Why's that banny? Bigger valves, better porting? I take it they'd be straight forward bolt on as well. Sorry to hijack cammy.

As the sti 3 heads will not match up with the MY99/00 inlet manifold being the main reason :)

However an AVC conversion would better the setup imho

AVCS on a classic is neither simple or cheap, take a look at my project thread for a slice of pain ;) so I'm with Banny on this; v5\6sti\P1 heads all the way; 8k rev limit so more fun to drive.

Good luck :thumb:

Well lads I have bought some V5 heads off a mate on scottish Scoobies £100 so happy with that they should do the job. I will be changing the valve springs and cams for cosworth ones during the build.

Kwik 13 January 2012 10:17 AM

What's the difference between the 2 cammy? I ask as I have no idea what direction to go in regarding heads, whether to port my 94WRX heads, new possibly larger valves, springs and cam's, or whether to look for a later setup.

+2 for v5/v6/p1 heads, fitted on my car as standard and perform perfectly, was advised no need to change them as they are great flowing heads,a good upgrade would be to replace the standard valves, springs with uprated supertech or cosworth versions and get them ported and polished.:thumb:

Dont know the differences to be honest mate just went of the advice of the lads here mine need to be V5 or V6 to fit my inlet manifold..

I will be getting advice from RA motorsport in Perth Scotland as to what all work I should do to them in regards to porting and polishing if needed and the likes..
