MPG ..... what do you recon?

Hi

I know we dont but these cars for their fuel economy and I dont care as love every minute I drive mine

But ..... I have had her recently serviced and did a MPG reading by filling tank up and then refilling, did a mixture of town and motorway driving and got an MPG of 22.8 - is this good ??

Spanair 24 December 2011 01:44 AM

They can be good I guess on a good run I get 40 miles to a tenner but the norm seems to be 20-30 miles round town. Typically. Mananed to do 110 to 25 quid last week not sure if that's good or not but its definitly a lot better than my mates sti and both are modified to the same sort of levels, mid mods.

MattJ85 24 December 2011 01:57 AM

Cheers mate - mine costs about £75 to fill up and get about 220 miles to a tank

jaygsi 24 December 2011 02:03 AM

Get bout 22mpg out of mine, unless on a run then can get more.

mnem1c 24 December 2011 02:34 AM

i drive like a granny. £50 v-power gets me 200 miles

You must be driving fairly hard to only get those figures. I always averaged between 21mpg-25mpg in my old sti's. :thumb:

521williams 24 December 2011 10:18 AM

Just done a 600 mile trip in my99 turbo, was amazed it only cost around 130 quid...

L.J.F 24 December 2011 10:36 AM

These poxy MPG threads really boil my p1ss lol. There must be 2 per week these days and there is never a happy ending!

buy a diesel banger as a run around.

Job done.

+1

imprezas are crap on fuel no matter what.

i get 200 miles to a tank on my 04 sti and i was aware of this before purchasing and i know its crap but to get anymore mpg i have to drive it off turbo and below 2k revs so what is the point of having 300+ bhp if your going to drive like that?

mogs132 24 December 2011 11:33 AM

havent done a mpg test but half a tank doenst do much more than 70 miles around town in an 07 sti

L.J.F 24 December 2011 11:40 AM

The fuel tanks are kidney shaped and not really accurate around the halfway mark. Fill it up to the brim, reset the tripometer and wait till the fuel light comes on again.

Remember these cars are crap around town and hate short journeys;)

jaygsi 24 December 2011 02:47 PM

Subaru should do what honda have done, hybrird. then you could have best of both worlds, or fit LPG.

If you read my original post you'd know that I know they are crap on fuel, I wouldn't change my driving style at all because I do like the turbo hence why I got a turbo car........
My question was is 22 good for an impreza ?!

If they piss you off so much why do you post in them ??

Norman Dog 25 December 2011 11:28 AM

How does the app work out how much fuel is consumed for each journey? Do you fill the tank up after each trip? :wonder:

Yeah always fill her up ;)

I wouldn't say I was overly heavy on the right pedal, she's mostly say at 80 on the way to work and back which is approx 30 miles.

I'll be driving up to MK in a few day and will get a figure for that trip

Norman Dog 25 December 2011 12:38 PM

13.2 mpg
Now that's seriously sh!t....

Are you running the standard map? :wonder:

PaulJC 25 December 2011 01:45 PM

The car is 100% standard, that may have been a more spirited tankful, even so I've never seen over 20 or anywhere near the 20+ figures some people claim to be getting.

jimmyinrugby 25 December 2011 01:57 PM

If you have an i phone there is a little free app called "mpg free",all though its simple to work out your own mpg, litres x 4.54 then divide that by the miles,I get 14-16 out of mine, and it's been mapped

ScoobySteve69 25 December 2011 04:02 PM

To get under 20mpg I`d have to drive it like I stole it....everywhere! Even driving around and having `fun` I still get 20 - 22.

Really?!?!? Maybe you need to try harder :lol1:

marcevs72 25 December 2011 09:20 PM

my last uk turbo with loads of mods would get 27mpg my import now gets 20mpg however i drive.i put the difference down to the shorter gear ratios in the jdm box meaning cant cruise at low rpm.

I see, this is why mine screams it's nuts off at 5000rpm doing 100mph

Micheru 25 December 2011 09:55 PM

27mpg, import 95 sti, mostly 30mile dual carriage way trips.

lordharding 25 December 2011 10:31 PM

250 to the tank per full fill
Always been that for the last 11 years mostly fast short journey and lots of smiles

jh1-2009 26 December 2011 12:10 PM

Do you fill up and enjoy the scoob?
Or do you fill up a more economical car and hate the thing?
