Sports personality o the year

Well it was nice to see Ed Moses , i remember him in the hurdles, he seemed to float round the track , bedecked with a couple kilos kruggarrand round his neck cool as anything and still finish 10 yards in front

Trout 22 December 2011 08:46 PM

Mark Cavendish for the win.

Surely our greatest world class athlete this year and certainly the greatest British road cyclist ever!!

dpb 22 December 2011 08:47 PM

certainly every inch the sprinter

Martin2005 22 December 2011 08:48 PM

Luke Donald or Clarkie for me

paulr 22 December 2011 08:48 PM

Its way too long. I just get the result on BBC newsonline (usually with a clip of the winners interview).

As for the winner.........Mark Cavendish, any other winner would be a travesty.

To be honest it's another crap year for British sport.

Crap year???

It has been a fantastic year for British sport

Trout 22 December 2011 08:59 PM

Cav is already 6th in the all time tour wins with potentially another dozen wins to come.

He could be the greatest ever. It is easy to say he is a sprinter but he still needs to there, on the wheel in the last 250m. To do that consistently is formidable.

Also Britain's first rainbow jersey for many years.

As for the drug comment

possibly ,however no amount of drugs will get through 3 weeks of 200 km a day

Tosh.

I think Darren Clarke would make a worthy winner. Getting back on track and winning his first open at 42 after the very sad loss of his wife. Life can be so cruel and I remember being so touched by that win and the huge love he has for his two boys that lost their mum,

davyboy 22 December 2011 09:07 PM

Cav for me.

As for drugs, yep I think they are all at it.

Martin2005 22 December 2011 09:10 PM

One things is for sure, Andy Murray will be as successful as ever, I predict he'll come 4th:lol1:

dpb 22 December 2011 09:12 PM

Mo for me

Donald to win the trophy and Clark to tap off with Sue Barker.

Good shout, so many great achievers this year though.

Most years I think he'd win, but this year he'll do well to be in the top 3

Darren Clark - the man who taught Tiger Woods everything he knows (about womanising).

I was talking to Matt Pinsent a few years ago as I was using him as a speaker at an event and I asked him who he admired.

He didn't mention Lance who had just won his 7th title. I asked him why and he was really agitated and said that ANYONE who achieved something that no-one else had done MUST be on DRUGS.

What, like winning a rowing gold FIVE GAMES in a row?

Lance on drugs, maybe, maybe not. But Lance and his trainer Chris Carmichael did revolutionise training in endurance sport that pretty much all teams now do - a methodology proven to be extremely effective across many endurance athletic events.

But show me another sport where drugs are not used? Even if it just having an espresso to give that extra kick - performance enhancement is widely used.

davyboy 22 December 2011 09:27 PM

Lance is guilty, that I have no doubts about.

Trout 22 December 2011 09:40 PM

I see Brian Moore is about to and lamp the Kiwis doing to Ha'ka!!! He looked a little wound up there!

Trout 22 December 2011 09:54 PM

The producer seems to be in love with Keri-Anne - how many times does the camera cut to her...
