Cheap Ebay turbos are a :nono:

It'd be nothing like the SC billet 35R.

300-500hp. Will most probably be the lesser and will spool like a 45R

Buy cheap buy twice, If a deal seems to good to be true thats usually because it is.

faz27 16 December 2011 11:01 PM

wow that was a quick answer lol ive got a td05 in my bugeye but it had a sc46 turbo before i bought it, so looking to replace the power, running around 360 bhp at mo but he claims was running mid 400's with the sc46. you wouldnt recommend one then? did you take a look?

faz27 16 December 2011 11:04 PM

ra dunk. thought that'd be the case tbh but hey a guy can live in hope eh! lol kk wont go down that route i'll just keep saving and nagging the missus boo hoo

dont do it mate !! when it comes to things as important as turbochargers you need the real thing tried and tested quality , or else your end up with something far more expensive than a decent turbo !? possible engine failure !!! :nono: do it once , do it right :D

faz27 16 December 2011 11:09 PM

yeah guys i understand gutted lol bought myself a top top scooby supposeably 472 bhp with this that and the other modification only to get it to scoobyteknix/scooby spares at fleetwood to find out its not got half of whats advertised, and problems left right and centre to fix. so run out of money and trying to cut costs to save marriage lol. dont worry ill give this one a miss. maybe look at a used scoobyclinic turbo. cheers

Billet SC46 would be a good replacement for that 16G but it will cost. Why was the SC46 removed anyways?

I did have a look at the link, it might 'look' ok but honestly, at that price, i wouldn't dare :thumb:

Been lots of people on here bought cheap turbos from Ebay, usually copies of the 20G made in places like China, Some don't boost well, some don't make the power, some have fitting issues, some just fall apart.

Save your pennies and buy a decent one, will save you a whole lot of money and problems later. :)

faz27 16 December 2011 11:28 PM

the sc46 was removed presumably to sell it without my knowledge. i was conned mate. i called the garage shennan motorsport in scotland and spoke to the guy he said he took off the turbo and sports manifold and pipe and replaced it with standard and the td05 and andy forrest mapped it to between 360 370 bhp. he had the turbo on ebay at the same time he was selling car.
link to car on ebay is here take a look if you want had it since november and spent just over a grand getting it to where it is now and through mot!!!!!

Add to that VAT , maybe import duty, admin charge for customs clearance and its nearer £320 by the time you are fininshed

They might be sold via the USA but it is where they are manufactured and by who - a lot of the cheap stuff is from china with poor build quality and materials.

Better off buying a decent turbo

Listening to Jeremy Vine on Friday, he covered the counterfeit goods malarkey. Anything can be counterfeitted in a matter of weeks, really complex stuff like Ipads and Iphones. They wont work properly but they look just like the real thing. A turbo doesn't consist of that many parts so copies could be easily knocked up. They won't be as good quality as the real thing though.
The Chinese consider imitation as form of praise. They probably think they're honoring the real thing by producing fakes. Infact somewhere in China there was a complete counterfeit Apple shop where even the employees were unaware it wasn't the real thing.

jayallen.. yeah i know just didnt realise it till few days AFTER bought the car! lol just my luck. so what started as a track ready car has turned into a project car. the solicitors want £3000 on account to pursue it! i can drop in an engine for that so sod it. still 370 bhp and with the help and advice ill get it there even if it costs me my marriage lol

as for the turbo's, think the resounding answer is avoid avoid avoid. ill take that advice and buy a decent one when the time comes cheers guys
