headers
noticed there was a blow on my exhaust so had a look round and found a big crack right round the header pipes looks like its the actual weld is this a common thing? replace or weld it back up?

are they aftermarket or standard?

wat u got ???

If he's talkng "weld", he's gort aftermarket. OE headers are cast.
Cheaper aftermarket ones suffer from stress fractures around the welds because the welders didn't take enough care. |
You can weld them even if they are the standard ones ( cast ) have fixed many cast manifolds over the years with weld

Yeah there after market ones not sure what make but im guessing cheap ones seeing as they've cracked.

Either find an EXPERT welder, (there is one near me, he is on call to the Aerospace industry, he can weld anything, found him via www.yell.com), get them to him and ask for a repair.......but be aware that if they have cracked once, they MAY go again elsewhere. The problem is thinning of the material near the weld, and heat induced stresses. Or, junk them and ask Harvey Smith, harvey on here, to give you advice and a price on a new set. HIS ones are decent;) |
