blob, main beam manual height adjustment?

Hi all,
My driver side main beam went over the weekend.
I replaced both side with a set of Philips Diamond Vision.
Now my passenger side beam is higher than my driver side.
I tried the interior height adjustment and only move both up and down.
Searched quite a few places and they all say there is some kind of a screw on the lamp to adjust.
Where is this screw located?
OR can anyone show me a pic of this or circle an image of where is it?
Many thanks.
J.

WAIT!

Replacing bulbs should have NO effect on the height settings of headlamps.

It's more likely that either the bulb isn't seated properly, or that you altered the position of the headlight slightly when replacing the bulb.

Did you have to remove the headlight to do it?

My bet, however, would be a badly seated bulb;)

I didn't take the whole light out to change the blub. But did remote the breather pipes and the battery to get behind it all.

The H1 bulb have 2 small studs which have to line up in order to clamp it down with the bracket. Therefore it is sitting correctly, as thats the 1st thing I checked...

Any ideas about this manual adjuster?

If the bulb is seated properly, how much is the beam out now?

Sorry, I have a classic, so can't help with the adjuster.

They are USUALLY a hexagon headed screw sitting vertically, if the lights have electrical adjustment, they will be part of that. On mine they also have a cross-point hole in the top to allow socket, or screwdriver adjustment.

Once you find it, stand the car in front of the gaage door, or a wall, and test which way the light goes as you turn the screw clockwise.
Then you'll know when you take it somewhere dark to adjust it;)

As mentioned check the bulb is in correctly - I know how to do this but still made a mistake on my blob not paying attention

Ok, took the entire lamp out so I might as well de-tango them at the same time.
I cant find any screws which adjust the height of the main beam.
However, I took some pics of the rear of the lamp.

There is this square ting on the bottom right corner, but how do I adjust it:

the big thing in the bottom picture with the white centre in it is the height adjuster.
it works from the switch in the car next to foglights, the one with numbers on it.
you havent moved this have you?

No I haven't remove it, I tried to turn the white thing and it will go round and round and round... luckily I remembered how many turns, so I turn it the other way (back to how it was).

Dont tell me that I have to turn it, stick the lamp back to the car, put the lights on, remove the lamp to adjust and so on?

tubbytommy 04 March 2012 09:50 PM

the white thing is the adjuster it works on a motor if you have turned it by hand you will have either broken it or wound it in or out to far and this would have moved the beam either up or down.

there is no manual adjustment it all works on that motor via the switch

Back to my original post, here is what the main level looks like before I remove the lamp:

All I want is to move the driver side up so it levels.

Looks like those lights are like my Xantia ones: levelling is for BOTH main and dip at the same time.

What does the dip beam look like? See, what worries me is that if you raise driver's side M/B, you ALSO raise that side dip, and it will be naff......and dazzling.

What MAKE of bulb did you put in?

BigSeal 05 March 2012 10:56 AM

Philips Diamond Vision.

does the light beam go up and down on the switch next to the fogs??
you could have broken the adjuster.
it will fail mot if the beam is to high

I haven't put the lamps back yet so haven;t tried yet.
But the switch does move the beam up and down.
Because the beam is not level, I am worrying that it will fail the MOT...

What's the DIP like: it's the DIP beam level that passes/fails MoT's.

Alcazer, my last pic is the dip beam/main beam not high beam.

if the beam is un level or too high it will fail the mot as it dazzles oncoming traffic.

i would put them back in and try the level switch to see if it adjusts.
i would think you possibly have broken one adjuster by winding it in by hand as its motorised.

Phew: awful focus and poor cutoff.

Just waiting for the silver bulbs to arrive and I will fit them and see.
