Subaru / gearbox specialist Yorkshire?

Does anyone know a good garage that can sort a problem I have, for some reason the bearing on the centre diff keeps failing. Preferably the garage would be in the north east.

How far North East ? how about Alyn at www.asperformance.com

sounds like too much pre-load on the bearings causing excess pressure hence why they keep failing. these should be measured and the correct shim sizes selected for it to work correctly:thumb:

............like the centre diff on your bench this Friday morning Rob :)

You sound as though you know your stuff. I wasn't aware they had to be shimmed. Is this a fairly simple job for someone in the know?

Done quite a few gearbox repairs & yes they need shimmed correctly otherwise they are too tight and bugger up quickly or are too slack and noisey :thumb:

easy enough to do if you know the measurements:D

Is it likely to have done damage elsewhere on the box?

not likely to have done anything other than send swarf through the gears, depending how bad it is

Chris is in Whitby. A jolly nice bloke too. Give Richard Henry a call they're not a million miles away and they should be able to help.:)

Thanks again Shaun,

When the bearings start to break up the hardened coating breaks off causing the swarf

Try DLM Auto Services, in Darlington. 01325 480678

Darren is a top man with Scoobs, and knows them back to front. He does all the garage work for Harvey Smith too.

I do indeed, but however one of them requires a glass bowl as it is cracked, I'll see if I can price one up this week & take advantage of my temporary role within the dealership and price them up lol

Afraid not mate, I'm dropping and picking the car off at his house and he's taking it through to Bradford.
