Centre Diff Control, Each Setting??
 

I have read a few threads on the Centre Diff Control, but am still non the wiser what each setting is used for and what sort of conditions to use each setting in!?

I have a 54 plate STi and up until now have just left the Diff in AUTO, as i have no idea what i should set the diff at for normal day to day driving around town, or when it rains heavily, or even snows!? Does setting the diff at different settings effect fuel economy at all, does it send more power to the front or rear wheels??

If someone who is clued up on the diff settings could chime in here and give a breif description what each setting is best for in regards to road conditions......

Big Triangle.............
Med Triangle............
Small Triangle..........
Tiny Triangle............
Zero........................

I leave mine on auto all the time as I find its the best setting for everyday driving on public roads. Can't really feel much difference with the other settings myself but if you were doing a lot of track time then there may be some benefit in using the other settings :wonder: If you really must drive in snow :nono: then use the lock setting.

Yeah must admit I leave mine in AUTO, but would like to know what situations to use the other settings in??

My understanding of DCCD is as below.

Bottom setting is max rear bias making the car more RWD, good for tracks and good conditions.

Top setting ( one down from LOCK ) is max front bias making car behave more like FWD, good for a predictable drive in poor conditions such as wet greasy roads etc.

LOCK is only really for loose surfaces, I would only use it if stuck on bad snow/ice or if stuck in a field etc. Doesnt really get much use. Can make car very clonky when there is good grip.

I leave mine in AUTO 90% of the time.

Thanks for the info, would selecting one of these settings have an effect on fuel consumption rather than other settings?

I dont think so, but then Ive never spent long enough in any mode other than auto to measure fuel consumption..
