80s lefty music ;-)

Been a long time, but I listened to an old favourite of mine tonight, Latin Quarter - Modern Times. Proper political music from the 80s :D :D

Got me thinking about Billy Bragg and the tour he fronted for the miners and political artists like The Special AKA, The Beat etc.

Amyone else got any left wing political music faves from the 80s.... it's OK to come clean now... you have all grown up :D

I do like a bit of 'Stand Down Maggie' by the Beat. I was just listening to itr the other day on vinyl.

Do you remember in his pomp he used to brag about the amount of fluff he was 'with', and he used to wash his hair with Evian, a decade before we were all buying it at 40p a litre!!

Eighties socialist music conjures up images of Red Wedge - really quite poor.

Billy Bragg and Paul Weller - quite poor??? Wash your mouth out you fascist git ;)

Crap from a cultural point of view, as opposed to a political one. I loved The Jam, even though I knew that Paul Weller hated me, but Red Wedge was SO crap. Even the Melody Maker couldnt get up any enthusiasm for it, in 1986, was it?
