oops ! sorry scoob !

this morning i woke up nice and early to work on my scoob :D
i fitted new heat shield & induction kit it was absolutely boiling outside , but thought while im out ill put my gutter strips back in ? " i'd removed them because was going to carbon wrap my roof " but they would not go back properly as id broken a few of the clips when i removed them  anyway i was gettin hotter and hotter , more and more frustrated and so ...................i kind of...........................punched my scoob :eek:i then stood in disbelief staring at 4 nuckle dents above the rear door
i pulled back the roof lining to see if i could get access to the back of dent to maybe knock out ? but no chance !!! now got to fill and repaint it and hope i can t-cut to a decent finish ?? temper, temper

Midlife...... 26 June 2011 06:57 PM

I had my brand new Bug WRX about 5 minutes and popped the bonnet to have a look and then close it again, dropped it a couple of times from about a foot and it wouldn't close so I decided to help it on it's way with a bit of a push...............dented the bonnet :(

That's why I always drop bonnets, that and the fact that it makes SwissTony cry :D

tubbytommy 26 June 2011 07:19 PM

those paintless dent removal guys can fix shallow dents like that as long as they can get behind.
lot cheaper than painting

MattyB1983 26 June 2011 07:24 PM

They don't even need to get behind the dent anymore. They glue little tiny pins to the body and pull the dent out. Pin is then removed leaving no marks what so ever.

Get them to fit your roof rails as well saves the stress of it all

initialD 02 July 2011 02:58 PM

some pics of the repair if anyone interested ? sill need to get colour matched , laquer and mop :D that will teach me to loose my temper :brickwall

Why do people push bonnets?
You wouldn't shut your door by pushing it to and then closing it with a further nudge.:D

I bet he slams doors too! :D

yellowsierra 02 July 2011 03:49 PM

dont think you will be doing that again.
The colour is 02c which you can get online and poured into a rattler so you can finish the job yourself

i get the paint made while i wait at halfords . but if anyone does this always ask them to spray it to see if it works ?? because from my personal experiance 9 out of 10 people that work at halfords are useless !!! and ive had 2 dodgy cans out of 5 !

rapid.STI 02 July 2011 05:45 PM

More to the point how's the hand:lol1:;)

nullfork 02 July 2011 05:56 PM

I'd like to see some pics of the finished paint job, good on you for sorting out your own mess :luxhello:

joz8968 02 July 2011 05:59 PM

Talking of bonnets, I gently push down on the leading edge of the bonnet's (facelift Classic) 'swage' lines, where they create points of strength/stiffness. So far, no dents (now worryingly runs outside to check.... :D)

initialD 02 July 2011 07:33 PM

:lol1: hand is surprisingly fine thanks .

initialD 02 July 2011 07:59 PM

like i said matey , they really are terrible in halfords !

yellowsierra 02 July 2011 08:42 PM

Halfrauds is how they are affectionately known.
Last time i went to one which was a couple of weeks ago, i went up to the Parts desk and asked the guy for a Rocker cover Gasket for my one of my Cars and he looked at me Kinda sheepishly and said, "what's a Rocker cover Gasket"

joz8968 02 July 2011 09:23 PM

To be fair, "rocker cover" is technically a term used for old OHV engines, where the cam was inside the block, driven off a gear on the dizzy, which in turn operated, via pushrods, the valve rocker gear in the head.

The modern term, for today's OHC engines (where obviously the cam/s is/are in the heads), is, appropriately, a "cam cover".

So, assuming the chap was a typically, low-attention threshold, disinterested 18-25yo, then the term "rocker cover" was probably alien to him.

That said, Halfrauds is well gay.... Well, apart from its tools section lol ;)

joz8968 04 July 2011 09:31 PM

It's the 'patience' thing that I don't do. ;)

nullfork 05 July 2011 07:07 AM
