classic center pipe with high flow cat?
I have been looking for a 2.5" classic center pipe with a high flow cat. Does anyone make them?
regards Daniel |
Not a good idea.
A Cat works better when hot, so they are usually fitted in the downpipe, to get the temperature up. Why not fit one in the Downpipe. |
my car looks to have 2 cats, one in the downpipe and one in the centre pipe.
I have a 2.5" high flow cat downpipe, but really struggled with the emissions on the mot but want a 2.5" centre pipe so was looking for a 2.5" pipe with high flow cat. |
Ah, I see.
Do you know the amount of cells in the downpipe cat (100/200 or more cells per inch CPI) Maybe a small tweak in the map is enough to get the car through (or telling the MOT guy to measure the exhaust directly after a drive, so the Cat is as hot as can be) |
the centre box on a classic isnt a cat as such its just a silencer.

If you need a s.s. 2.5" straight through centre section, I have one...

Yeah, the res. does very much look like a cat housing.

So you already have a cat in the down pipe? That is usually enough.

The boost gauge is showning nearly 1psi and have a z4 ecu (import) so think the car might have been chipped which could be causing the problem?? The car has apexi filter kit and blitz rear box only. |

Make sure your tester is doing the correct default test and is not trying to find an 'exact match' on the database. The database 'only' holds information on uk/eu cars not imports. http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j8...missions-1.gif |
thanks for that, I will print it off and ask him to have another look to see how it fits.

I think maybe they just see an impreza and type it in, then we get tested at uk spec?

Here's a thread that will be of use to you, and your tester: https://www.scoobynet.com/non-scooby...t-testers.html |
thanks, just had a look through.
my car is a 96 model (but has the early engine) so looks like a 95 car on a 96 plate. So basically still need to meet the cat test. so for future reference when I look for my tract car it needs to be before 31st July 95 in order to get the much easier emissions test. |
Yeah that's right. The thread isn't totally relevant to your MY but it shows that testers do some times need a little education.
If he is an arse like mine was just phone or email vosa to get the correct facts and take it to him. |
- Check your V5's "Date first manufactured". If it's before 31st July 1995 - albeit which we now doubt, based on what you've just said in post # 19 - then I'd take it along with you, along with the VOSA doc. above, to PROVE your car needs the 'early' non-specific non-cat test (and therefore will be subject to the more relaxed targets).
- If it's later, then don't take the V5 with you (obviously :D), but just sneakily see if you can get it through on the 'early' test by telling him that it's an early 1995 whilst showing the VOSA document to him (got nothing to lose, after all)... He might just simply sucuumb because you'll appear all 'clued up' and forthright! ;) :D |
