fuel pump question

How can you tell the difference between a standard fuel pump and updated one ?

Athame1 21 May 2011 02:43 PM

Part number stamped on it . may be possible from sound made when ignition is on(little louder)

jdsf5 21 May 2011 03:03 PM

Ok anyone got a part number for standard and a apparently walbro that's fitted to mine ?

Gambit 21 May 2011 04:33 PM

size also. the std pump is massive in comparison to uprated pumps

here's mine with the uprated one on the right

Thanks buddy I'll take a look later :)

jdsf5 22 May 2011 04:18 PM

Jcs8 on mine guessing it's a standard one then can't find any part numbers to confirm this if anyone 1 else can grrrrrr pissed off

Jimbob 22 May 2011 05:15 PM

My Classic one says
UNISIA JECS MADE IN JAPAN, and was a fat thing.

Other stuff on it are A42-646055 12V 4Z08G.

jdsf5 22 May 2011 06:13 PM

Cheers mate mine doesn't say made in japan bit has a whole load of other numbers on it apparently it is uprated but not a walbro , but to me just looks like a standard one ? With a pale brown plastic etheir end

Jimbob 23 May 2011 03:27 AM

My standard one has a black top and metal (grey) underneath.
I fitted a Walbro to mine.
Easiest way to compare a Walbro vs standard is the standard is a can of coke, where a Walbro is a can of Red Bull.

jdsf5 23 May 2011 08:47 AM

See the one in mine is about the same as a redbull can but Iam sure it isn't uprated as it looks exactly the same as a standard one on eBay hmmmm

BrownPantsRacing 23 May 2011 08:54 AM

My genuine Walbro was within 1-2mm the same size as the original. Walbro pump has got the symbol printed on the side. Should be easy to see.

2 Attachment(s)
Standard OEM pump.
Attachment 55310

My uprated one.
Attachment 55311

jdsf5 24 May 2011 12:32 PM

Cheers for that mate mine is no where near as big as that although not sure if it is a pump fitted out of a newer model as mine looks exactly same as this http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/vie...314283&index=0

Gambit 24 May 2011 01:42 PM

this is mine, side by side.
Fat one = OE
skinny 1 = uprated Dynapex

yeah my Walbro was only slightly smaller than the original.
Main way to tell the difference is the walbro is a noisey bugger when it primes and the standard is almost silent.

BrownPantsRacing 26 May 2011 03:48 PM

Yep, know what you mean. Hear it every time I start the car now. Otherwise you just cant tell.

Fish it out the tank and check if it has the Walbro stamp on the side. Only way of being sure!
