STI with no engine. trying to sell!

My dad owns a body shop and was given the car pictured below to work on, they guy wanted the bonnet and the the rear wing sprayed. So my old man did it for the guy but he never payed so after chasing the guy for the money since november! he's going to sell his car :lol1: the guy is fine with it so now my dad want rid of it. I'm not trying to flog it on here I'm just interested to see how much I should expect to get for it. It's missing an engine, front bumper and headlights, rear bumper and no alloy wheels. I presume it's a genuine STI rolling shell. Here's some pics...

its probably worth about £1000, if its a clean shell, no damage, and rust free.

Yeah it's all in good condition I was really suprised when I saw it today. What do I need to look for to see if it is an actual STI. Any plates stamped on the body etc?

musso2010 16 May 2011 02:21 PM

Imo £1000 is way over priced. You can pick up a clean typeR shell for that sort of money. I would say £600 max, depending what you sell with it.

chris wheela 16 May 2011 02:24 PM

What I sell with it? Just everything you can see I presume the gearbox and is there but will have to check

MRSIMPSON 16 May 2011 02:33 PM

Under the bonnet there will be a silver ID plate take a picture of that and get it on here, and we can tell you hopefully exactly what you've got.

As for the price, I'd say around £600 is more realistic also, seen them on ebay at that price anyway.

Scrap value without a V5 ?

dunx

P.S. Get him to sign it over, and then you might get £500 ?

chris wheela 16 May 2011 06:25 PM

No V5 as of yet, Might take a little while going through the DVLA to get a new one :( if that's possible???

musso2010 16 May 2011 07:47 PM

Surely if the real owner is happy with you selling it then he will give you the V5?

To be honest, if he is just letting you have the car to pay for paint work you have done i would be seriously suspicious. Before you do anything i would make sure its not stolen.

chris wheela 16 May 2011 09:52 PM

That's the problem we currently have. I havnt HPI checked it yet. But he doesn't want us to sell it. But it's been in our possession for over a year now! And he keeps coming up with excuses for not paying. We had contacted all the legal people and now the car is legally ours. It's a toughy. All because this guy didn't wanna come up with £300. Tbh I reckon he just wanted free storage for it.

buff01 16 May 2011 09:58 PM

also looks like an import too, maybe harder to trace ?????

prodriverules 16 May 2011 10:28 PM

Where are the parts that are not on the car then mate?

chris wheela 16 May 2011 10:38 PM

In possession of the previous owner unfortunately

MRSIMPSON 16 May 2011 10:39 PM

Apply for the V5 once you have that it's going to be easier to sell

mantazini 16 May 2011 11:23 PM

scottydog137 16 May 2011 11:35 PM

chris wheela 20 May 2011 04:55 PM

Replied

musso2010 20 May 2011 07:01 PM

Interested. Any luck on a V5 yet though?

chris wheela 20 May 2011 07:21 PM

Apparently you can't register a car with no engine and the guy will not give us the V5.

musso2010 20 May 2011 07:34 PM

Do you have the registration?

chris wheela 20 May 2011 08:04 PM

Find that out on Monday hopefully :)

dunx 20 May 2011 08:50 PM

V5 or the small claims court... threat may be enough ?

dunx

P.S. Plus a charge for storage, and also disposal...

chris wheela 20 May 2011 08:55 PM

Problem is we don't have his address only a name and number. Grrr

stockcar 21 May 2011 08:23 AM

be very careful disposing of property as i 'believe' you are only legally allowed to go this route after 12 months!!!

Midlife...... 21 May 2011 09:47 AM

The property is not "lost" and someone has legal title over the item so you can't actually sell it. You cannot sell something you do not "own".

Is it a landline number you have for the guy ??

Shaun
