How low, Would ya go??!!

Hi guys.

What would people advise on lowering? How low should i go? It will be just springs on sti struts.

Some kits say 35mm and some say 40mm, Would 40 be to low for every day use?

Thanks for any help:thumb:

Only lower it if you're in it for the long haul, if you do just springs you'll mess your handling up totally

Remember, you're driving a rally replica road car, so naturally it shouldn't be lowered too much.

the best method I have tried and tested over several sti's and wrx's i've owned are either the Prodrive or Eobach springs, (which are the same, both made by Eibach). These are for use with oem struts.

Alternatively, you could opt for a coilover kit.

I lowered my classic by about 40mm with H&R springs and AGX struts. The car handles very nicely at that setting and rides pretty well too. I would say for the UK roads that is about as far as I would go.

Yeah, just like Pug 106's, Ford Fiestas, Minis..... :Whatever_

My RB320 has Eibach springs. I believe that makes it 30mm lower on the front and 10mm on the rear lower than a standard STI. I wouldn't want to go any lower as the splitter already rubs in some multi story car parks.

It is a fact that lowering produces INCREASED roll unless you start messing with the whole suspension geometry.

just get prodrive sti springs if its a newage, perfect for road.

I think I'm sat about 100mm lower on BC coilovers, so how low is really up to you really.

Going even lower tomorrow :norty:

^^^^^^ 100mm,,,,, really ???

RS_Matt 03 May 2011 01:56 PM

Not sure if it applies to Scoobs but on the old car forum I posted on 25mm Eibach springs was the gospel. Lower than that and it would be big money to improve handling.

My STI whupping WRX is sat about 25mm lower but due to hitting curbs all the time my handling is escort 1.3l ish.

Spose you could say its slammed/stanced, its nothing compared to our subaru family over the pond. If you want to see low imprezas America is the place to look.

There are no other road cars with as many similarities to their rally counterpart other than the Subaru Impreza or the Mitsubishi Evo. So what is your point?

that will only occur if you lower below the wishbone horizontal line

Not according to the website I checked on.
Not gonna argue anyway, it's his car, he does what he likes.
PERSONALLY, I'd NOT do it............
