Tiff even had a p1 and a latest version car and wanted the classic over the new age ant day, watch it on you tube. So are you saying that people like that dont know what they are talking about!!? Get you head above water mate before you drown in your heritage and history. I can tell you Subaru UK dont give a damn about their past I have first hand dealings with them regarding it!! You blame the yen the rest of us blame design just like the bug eye that had to be redesigned cause it looked so bloody woeful. They are not selling cause they look so ****! we would all love to have them at the top of the tree again but until they start emplying designers with flair and vision it just will not happen. The hatch is a pig and saloon ain't much better

^^^ :lol1: Oh dear.... Do you really quote fith or top gear??? As much as new age or hatch looks worse than a classic scoob, their more superiour technicaly. We all have different tastes for everything i think so theres no point for argueing. Put a classic against the new age sti in a standart form on the track and u'll be surprised... And for all this hype with 22b or P1 is very personal as well. Type r will be better on the track cause of DCCD but wont look cosmeticaly as good as P1. And 22b is just another classic with some uprated STI bits/body kit . I see it as a collectors car , but don't believe its some sort of super car... Have been collecting some japanese vids through the years , kind of jap top gear , the only difference is that them guys are pro racing drivers. I'll try to find some comparisson so you could see the real world, not some Mr Clarckson bull ish..

Tony:)

i dont have a clue you are right, i cannot compete with a man who has all the answers!!

'Why has it lost its way? because it now produces a hatchback which looks similar to a main stream car?
Lets look at ford, put them in a line (face on) and stand back, do the same for vauxhall, then BMW, citroen and peugeot do it too, damn all the manufacturers do it, all the cars look quite similar, so subaru are following the market trend, which in turn keeps them in business.'

why follow the crowd like lambs to the slaughter. Be individual and unique so that you stand out from the crowd. that is where they have gone wrong, trying to be something that they are not. Their exit from the wrc has been the main reason why they have lost their way. that is where they built their reputation and now they are nowhere, struggling cause people wont buy their products in the numbers they used to. Nothing to do with the yen or exchange rate. The way they are carrying on they will soon be out of business!!

you can have a supa dupa technological wonder but if you wrap it up in brown paper then NOONE will buy it no matter how good its engine suspension or brakes are!

Dave Y 05 May 2011 07:26 AM

majority of mainstream cars look very similar, look at the BTCC you can hardly tell one from another. They should get back to the wrc and make a big effort to produce a winning car.

fatscoobfella1 05 May 2011 07:42 AM

Lets be honest,Tommi Mak could get any car round the ring in great times.

He drove the pants off that car,he was ten tenths all the time..

Do i like the new scoobs............No.....A nice facelift classic does it for me everytime.

You still dont get it, try using google or the likes, your about as far off the mark as you can get :lol1:

Be individual.... companies normally go under for that, did you know ford sold virtually no sierra's in the first 2 years of their production because it was a "radical" design?

The exit from the wrc also has nothing to do with what Subaru want to do or where they want to be in the future, do you understand that there are new regulations out now for the WRC? 2009 was precisely the correct time to leave, here, bit of info for you ;)

Of course you could say that BMW are deep in it because they pulled out of F1, same with Peugeot and hey, even Subaru had a go ;) or Audi for pulling out of WRC all those years ago, must have been a BIG mistake for them too, watched them crash and burn because of such a bad decision

As for Subaru not selling any cars because people dont like their product, a few facts for you, did you know that 8 years ago you could get a nice new subaru imported to the UK from Japan for around 19-20k all in? Bargain eh?! you know if you did that now (and they have not gone up more than 100k yen) it would cost you 8-9k more?
You dont seem to go with this idea that the exchange rate has anything to do with a global down turn or why people are not buying Subaru's, here, in plain figures ive got the yen v gbp figures for the last 10 year so you can see for yourself! and you wonder why the cars went from 26-34k, nothing to do with economics...

http://www.x-convert.com/chart/JPY-GBP?period=10y

As for sales figures, one market dips, another gains, Subaru are not having such a hard time of it for a small manufacturer, they quoted a 33% sales increase in december in the states for that month :D but look for yourself, it includes Subaru Japan sales figures, pretty consitent to me.

Of course you can just carry on saying Subaru have lost the plot, the figures say otherwise along with the information ive put up there.

The track is actually damp (hence more understeer), so imagine what he could have done if it were dry ;)

You have to consider that everyone else would get a boost from that too!

bloody hell I am gobsmacked you need to get a life mate!!

I am sure that your other hobby is standing on train platforms in a anorak and thick glasses with a note book and pen jotting down train numbers and asking the driver to blow his horn! But as I said earlier.......how on earth can anyone compete with a guy who has all the answers!!! You truly are a enthusiast!!

As for exchange rates, that is a load of balls. BMW, VW or Seat or Porsche don't seem to have any problems with that **** euro. At the end of the day, you cannot make a silk purse out of a sow's ear

subaru have still lost their way and may never recover, their new cars look like pigs now and their designers need to go back to the drawing board! They may even ask peter stephens for advice this time!!

I feel the need to come to Tony's defence (although it clearly isn't necessary, eh Tony ;)).

Anyway, the manufacturers you describe above aren't having to deal with the Yen/GBP currency exchange, which is the reason for the increase in prices. If the supply remains the same and the price increases, the demand will drop.

Carry on Tony! :lol1:
