My Impreza Re-trim part 2.

Decided to try and do the roof lining, i don't think it has turned out to badly, i know its not the best job ever, but its a start, and its easy to remove and redo should i feel the urge to.

i ask you this......

why not?

Modding cars is all about making a car personal to yourself, some people strip and go for a track car, others leave totally standard and others to everything inbetween.

I do what ever i can to make a car personal to me. I 2toned my Astra Coupe, i pushed 300bhp out of an Astra SRi-Turbo on one off custom refurbed uber rare alloys. I fit v6 brakes to a 1.6 vectra just for the laugh.

My little girl likes the song, 'Twinkle Twinkle' and i like upsetting the whole balance of the car scene by doing stuff that no-one else would do.

14N-FR 27 April 2011 07:45 PM

I think some black alcantara would have looked better.

musso2010 27 April 2011 07:46 PM

Good work mate.

I'm not knocking you, but can i ask why you chose that type of pattern? I had better not let my eldest see this or shell have me doing the same ha ha.

astra_dave 27 April 2011 07:46 PM

i think black alcantara is expensive and boring.

SpecDscooby 27 April 2011 07:50 PM

ummmm.....Dave are you a magician in your spare time, or star gazer?!?!?!?!?!......

Im going to assume your not gay, since you have a child!...just kidding, whatever YOU (and probably only you:) like.

astra_dave 27 April 2011 07:58 PM

lol no i'm not gay (well at least i don't think i am), i just like being different, and at the end of the day, its very easy to remove, the roof and the door panels. I think its pretty cool, my little girl loves it, the wife thinks i'm mad but likes it :-)

b road blaster 27 April 2011 08:11 PM

no mate, i'm totally fake and i didn't spend 3 hours removing the head lining, covering it, and putting it all back in. Of course i'm for real!

Mission nearly accomplished Russ :-)

dezmondo 27 April 2011 09:55 PM

Excellent, would never have crossed my mind to to that but think it's great and more than likely unique. Headlinings have got to be one of the most uninteresting parts of any interior and you've made yours' interesting, well done :).

MattyB1983 27 April 2011 10:22 PM

It's not what I would of done but it's not my car. If you like it, fair play. And like you say, if it all comes off easy enough come re-sale time there's no probs.

EH52WRX 27 April 2011 10:37 PM

So whens part 3  I cant wait to see whats next  :thumb:

legb4rsk 27 April 2011 10:46 PM

Not my cup of tea but well played for doing your own thing.

BTW your not this blokes chauffeur are you?

stanmo 27 April 2011 11:03 PM

It's also unlikely that anyone but you and passengers will see your work, so definitely a personal mod.

I rather like the LED footwell lighting that Subaru have a kit for, which I'm thinking of fitting on the cheap, to match red STI dials, but I guess some will be horrified :-)

Arkynsei 27 April 2011 11:40 PM

Looks fantastically well finished.. I don't think is going to be many people's cups of teas but I think it's fantastic you're doing what you like and sod the consequences. Certainly looked personal to you!

I think we need a part 3 and on the final part a big shot of the interior of the car so we can see it in all it's glory :3.

I'm just waiting for the 'Twinkle Twinkle little star rally livery'

B4D HK 28 April 2011 12:01 AM

FFS :brickwall

andythejock01wrx 28 April 2011 12:42 AM

How's the headlining removed and replaced btw?

Is it just a few plastic clips, that you can reuse?

gahsparc 28 April 2011 02:18 AM

thats er...... different
