I was waiting for your running report on the F10... Have had the full set of 5 series since the E12 and currently have an E60,so the F10 is/was a natural progression for myself.

Its a shame your disappointed with the car....Run flats are the devils work,bin them and get some half decent tyres on.. Better still,raise your concerns with your dealer and see if you can get a loan set of wheels to see if it improves your concerns..

My friend recently sold his 550 M sport and bought a CL55 AMG and he is nearly in tears as he realised after a few weeks of the huge bollock he has dropped..:(
I have been in it myself,no doubt it fast but the interior is bargain basement.

For proper low rent interior (but proper oooo factor) something American? Big Mustang or Corvette? Won't corner but then that's not the point of that sort of car! Listening to one should produce a smirk though!

Devil, it is the M Sport on 19inch run flats but I have not lowered the suspension. Body roll is actually quite well controlled.

The XFR is a possibility, I've read great things about it and I think its as fast as a M5.
My concerns about that car were I've read the interior was a little low rent but haven't actually been in one myself to be fair.

I've been thinking about the Panamera again and though it has presence, there is still something very fugly about it!

No worries. Just trying a curve ball. Audi I would agree completely on the dullness both inside and driving. MB, I do like, no issues with the interior there, just a little old fashioned but very much a style of the marque, I think you either love it or you don't. BM do have a nice line on interiors that has to be said.

Trouble is, you are quite limited in express vehicles that are also comfy with nice interiors that handle well.

The Panamera should come with an 18 certificate, no-one younger should be forced to look at one in case they get nightmares.

Beyond the 'big three' and the Jag what's left? blown Range Rover? Aston? Maserati? bit stuck really.

I appreciate the input though mate, a new M5 will be beyond my budget as it will be £80k+. I think my options are these

1) C63 AMG (? estate). 2009 models are now circa £40k, or a more recent one for £50ishk. Pros are that it seems to have got good reviews on the whole and it looks good and there are plenty to choose from.


2) E63 AMG. Pros again are that it has got fantastic reviews from the press and it has the wet clutch which I think the C63 doesn't (actually has just got it now, so is on brand new cars)
It will obviously have more space than the C class but to me the shape looks a little odd, its quite square

3) The new C63 AMG Coupe. This comes out in June. I'm a little wary about ordering another brand new car, especially one I have never driven.

Putting non RFTs on mine made a lot of difference - I CANNOT understand why BMW keep using them. Everyone hates them.

why not buy a late E60 M5. Read in auto car the other week that the head of //M said it the V10 was the best engine BMW have ever built and that the new M5 will be an "alternative" to the E60 M5....

TBH this makes sense.

The chap I bought my bike off wanted "something a bit more sensible" and didn't feel he still needed a 180mph machine anymore.

Two months later he'd flogged the new one at a loss and bought a used version of what he had before simply because he realised that was what he really enjoyed riding.

Might be worth considering stepping back if you can find the right car, at least you know how it should go and understand the costs involved.

FFS DD, make sure you test drive your potential new car long and hard and then sit in a dark room for a good while and decide if it is the correct choice or not.
FWIW, the E63 looks too big. The C63 looks well proportioned and aggressive. I can't decide if the Jag is a flat cap car or not.

Sounds wierd but i don't mind the E class estate, much prefer it over the sedan. Think in the beauty stakes though the C looks more svelte (for obvious reasons)

Old girl has always had jags and she's never had reliability issues and the trim has always been solid. Out of the three in your line up there the Jag is the one who's going to depreciate the most!

The bike chaps' mrs supported. Apparently he was a right miserable sod for the months he was without the proper machine. Get a grin back and treat the mrs, balls to everyone else heh heh.

I like the MB, not sure about the hockey stick style running lights and not sure about the slight split they've added to the headlights either but the rest of the car looks sharp. Mind you know I'm a fan anyway. Only thing with the E-Class is that it is a big car, huge really so you might be better looking at the C63 if you really want to chuck it about.

New Jag looks great. Not sure if they've stopped using Ford switches etc though. Good kit like but you don't want to adjust the mirrors and think "that's the same as the one in a Fiesta". Might be me though!

Jag has a lovely interior.

People must see me coming. When I walked into the MB dealer on Tuesday I insisted I wasn't interested in buying a car a salesman latched onto me and saw the bm outside and managed to get me to fess up to my problem.

Anyway, he has offered me a day with any amg car I want.

I'm going to ring him today and find out the latest details on the coupe.

I must say though that I'm suprised that you would be interested in one. After the GTR won't anything less than a Turbo S, GT3 RS etc seem slow??

when does th enew M5 come out? Can't you wait for that to drop to your price level or is the 5 series that bad? It's not as if you are driving around in a Lada :)

GTR has some potential plans to be transformed after the summer has expired (so next week knowing england) i am an impulsive person, something about that C Coupe AMG that makes me want one so bad, plus it's got a little more decorum than the GTR when going to see my shoreholders, it's not all about the speed you lunatic :p

Sorry to hear you are not taken with the new motor. If you are seriously thinking of changing the motor with the following suggestions, you should take a few things into consideration,

XFR: just about to be updated/facelift
C63: just about to be updated/facelift
E63: engine about to be replaced with the 5.5 twin turbo

When these filter out on to the used market, it will obviously have a cost baring on the present models.

The only "super saloons" that have got close to the E60 M5 according to journo's, are the XFR and E63 in terms of feed back, body control, balance and performance.

Yes C63 has just been updated, the most significant change is that it now gets the wet clutch rather than torque converter.

The e63 may get the new blown engine but then it will be about 2 years away from a brand new e class. Anybody who buys that will take a really big hit I think.

The gtr is unuseable as a 2+2 with kids
